I was invited to participate in 12/31/2011-1/1/2012: New Years Eve Ascension 2012 (San Diego ~ Balboa Park on December 11, 2011 by Makada Dread Cheetom, a dear friend for more than 30 years. I envision participating in a brief Arundo Blessing Ceremony on stage around Midnight December 2012 as we transition into Kawanzaa's last day--Faith.
San Diego's WorldBeat Cultural Center is hosting a spectacular New Year's Eve Extravaganza featuring BREATH OF LIFE TRIBE, ENA VIE, AZTEC DANCERS, Lamine Thiam African Drum & Dance, Dj Lakshmi, Community Drum Circle, Midnight Ceremony, Meditation, Healing Arts, World Tribe Vendors, Yoga Demonstrations, Multi Media Visonary Art and Light Displays, Chai, Elixar & Tonic Bar, Vegetarian Cuisine provided by World Famous Prophet Restaurant.

BREATH OF LIFE TRIBE is a world sacred music ensemble based in Los Angeles that was started in March of 2010. They have headlined several festivals and events including last years Alternative New Years Revelation at the World Beat Center in San Diego, CA; Bhakti Fest annual Yoga and Kirtan festival in Joshua Tree; several retreats at Esalen Institute; and many other program in just the first year of their career. The Tribe is led by Deepak Ramapriyan who has played with most major kirtan artists and yoga teachers in the world including Jai Uttal, Dave Stringer, Donna Delory, Jaya Lakshmi, Saul David Raye, Shiva Rea, Shyam Das etc. . . ENA VIE is a recording artist, poet, singer/songwriter, guitarist and a woman passionate about honoring the Earth and all beings on it. Her latest album "Heart of Devotion" (2011) is a collection of mantras and prayers in both Sanskrit and Hebrew and her songs "Big Enough" and 'Kissed" are featured on the VH1 series Tough Love. AZTEC DANCERS are a group of traditional ceremonial performers from Mexico and California. The dances performed are from pre-coloumbian Aztec civilizations offered for cleansing, harmony and reaching balance between fatherson and earth/ocean mother. The dance troupe only performs very rarely during auspicious ceremonial occasions. They were featured at last years 2010 New Years Eve Revelation celebration at the World Beat Center to a captivated and mezmerized audience.
AFRICAN DRUM & DANCE
LAMINE THIAM is a world-renowned dancer, choreographer, drummer and actor. Lamine specializes in West African Dance from his native Senegal and neighboring countries, including rhythms such as Sabar, Djembe and Bougarrabou. He has graced the stage at venues worldwide including Carnegie Hall, Symphony Space, The United Nations and Lincoln Center (NY), as well as theaters in Japan, Germany, London, Mexico and the Caribbean. As a teacher, Lamine has challenged professional dancers and first-time students in classes and workshops across the United States and Mexico.
COMMUNITY DRUM CIRCLE & MIDNIGHT CEREMONY
CHRISTINE STEVENS, MSW, MT-BC, MA holds masters degrees in both social work and music therapy. She is author of The Healing Drum Kit and The Art and Heart of Drum Circles. The founder of UpBeat Drum Circles, she has appeared on NBC, PBS, and is a featured speaker in the DVD Discover the Gift. She has trained facilitators from more than twenty five countries in the REMO HealthRHYTHMS program.
