By the time, I bear fruit,
you will not recognize this land.
Thank you for trusting me.
Thank you for rooting me
in the soil of your soul.
By the time I am ten feet tall,
our neighborhood will not look the same.
New dwellings. New buildings.
Some will stay the same.
Other things will have shifted.
Nearby students
will learn more about me by then.
They will be strong in my vision of the earth.
When I am fifteen feet, the landscape here
will ground a new ideal.
Cooperation, mercy, and good will will be
the law of the land.
When I am 20 feet, here will be a park,
People will come to appreciate that someone
with little physical strength in the physical
planted a nut tree here.
A nut tree says you plan to stay.
Your earth will stay although many
of your ideas will be gone.
Seeds will again be seen as substance
to Plant Your Dream.
Seeds will return to Commonwealth.
The earth will come to see people everywhere
growing again a bit of their own food
supporting local fertile farmers,
gathering each drop of precious rain.
The earth will come to be clean.
Thank you for watering me with rain water.
Thank you for believing in me.
Thank you for allowing me to shift your inner
and outer landscape.
I am stability in a time of transition.
I am your walnut tree.
Thank you for planting me now.
