Biotech Seeds Companies entitled to prevent research

Biotech Seeds Companies are entitled to prevent research.
This is so they can protect their valuable patents.
Some scientists were objecting to this practice.
What do you think?

This Plant Your Dream Blog was inspired
by a Lowe's Garden Center Google Ad
that showed up early this morning on
my Curezone Site.

It triggered a memory that Lowes was
selling Biotech Seeds in their garden center,
perhaps without knowing it. This was an event
that came into my field of vision somewhere around
the Jewish High Holidays of 2010, sometime in
2010. I was also aware at the same time that
Lowes was doing some very good environment
projects in their L.A. stores.

We are in a major food emergency now.
Part of this is due to innocence.
We have lost our beat with nature.
We are out of sync.

The only solution is to get our beet back with nature.

I have Friends on Facebook within the Monsanto Corporation.
I have planted seeds, that happened to be organic with
Dr. Robert Fraley, who I know as the father of Round Up Ready
herbicide that is very popular now and under some
controversy.

We planted seeds to close the gap, and lessen the tension
between Organic and Biotech lovers.

I believe this will come as we sit down and have an honest
dialogue on Science, Ethics, and Food. This is my position.
I am asking for Dialogue. Please.

Let us go slow, as Purdue elder scientist Don Huber said
and make sure we are doing the right thing before we
jump the gun further on releasing Biotech Alfalfa and other
seeds. That is all I am asking.

My position as reflected in my Huffington Post article of
last October is; Chew on Food Safety: A National Conversation
is Needed.

That means Go Slow. Look before we leap.

I have friends who are friends with USDA Sec of Ag
Tom Vilsack. I honor this man for his intent in wanting
to have People's Gardens. T his began as an organic initiative.

I am a peacemaker. I am writing this during the week
of lovingkindness on a Journey of Awakening in thee Kabbalistic
tradition I follow.

We are between the Passover and the Easter.

Last Easter Sunday I was in the desert and I prayed for
Dr. Robert Fraley. A few hours later, coming home, I realized
there was an earthquake that hit on that day, but I never felt it.

Is it possible that when we pray for all, we can be immune
to living as a disaster waiting to happen?

Can you hear me?

I heard Julia Butterfly Hill say this yesterday at SDSU Greenfest.

We cannot make peace in the world by having judgements
against others. This came from a woman who sat up in a tree
to defend the redwoods for two years. What a deep spiritual teacher!

Oh My God!

Let us bring peace to our Enchanted Garden World!

I am rushing now to prepare for the day.

This is an incomplete blog.

I do not mean to harm here, merely point out a few of the
details that do not fit on the same map between science
that is restricted from doing open research on the consequences
of GE Seeds, and at the same time, other scientists, like Don Huber
of Purdue, highly esteemed, who are seeing things about GE Round Up
Ready that need to be looked at.

How can Tom Vilsack on the one hand promote organic People's Gardens
and on the other hand sponsor the full deregulation of GE alfalfa and other
crops?

This is only possible because we have lost our way.
We have lost our beat with nature.

THE SOLUTION

Grow some of your own food, even one beet in a pot
to begin getting your beat of nature back.

much love to all the people of Japan and
refugees everywhere.

We are all refugees until we grow our own food.

VERY INTERESTING AS WELL
ABOUT DON HUBER AND SCIENCE RESEARCH

http://www.sonomacountyalnoclub.org/scientists-question-claims-in-biotech-let...

DES MOINES, Iowa – The widespread Internet posting of a letter by a retired Purdue University researcher who says he has linked genetically modified corn and soybeans to crop diseases and abortions and infertility in livestock has raised concern among scientists that the public will believe his unsupported claim is true.

___

He said he wrote the letter to Vilsack because he thought the U.S. Department of Agriculture needed to take immediate action and provide resources to further research his claims. He said he doesn’t know how it reached the Internet.

____

Huber said he sent the letter through a third party so it could be hand-delivered to Vilsack.

The USDA acknowledged it had received the letter, but it doesn’t appear the agency is investigating the matter.

“It has been confirmed that no letter addressed to Secretary Vilsack from Dr. Huber has been received directly by USDA,” the agency said in a statement to the AP. “The only copy we received was forwarded by a third party, and we do not respond to third-party letters.”

and found this:

Crop Scientists Say Biotechnology Seed Companies Are Thwarting Research

By ANDREW POLLACK
Published: February 19, 2009
Biotechnology companies are keeping university scientists from fully researching the effectiveness and environmental impact of the industry’s genetically modified crops, according to an unusual complaint issued by a group of those scientists.

Craig Lassig for The New York Times

Ken Ostlie, an entomologist, said Syngenta had withdrawn its permission and a study about corn and rootworms had to stop.
“No truly independent research can be legally conducted on many critical questions,” the scientists wrote in a statement submitted to the Environmental Protection Agency. The E.P.A. is seeking public comments for scientific meetings it will hold next week on biotech crops.

The Scientists’ Declaration:

The following statement has been submitted by 26 leading corn insect scientists working at public research institutions located in 16 corn producing states. All of the scientists have been active participants of the Regional Research Projects NCCC-46 "Development, Optimization, and Delivery of Management Strategies for Corn Rootworms and Other Below-ground Insect Pests of Maize" and/or related projects with corn insect pests. The statement may be applicable to all EPA decisions on PIPs, not just for the current SAP. It should not be interpreted that the actions and opinions of these 26 scientists represent those of the entire group of scientists participating in NCCC-46. The names of the scientists have been withheld from the public docket because virtually all of us require cooperation from industry at some level to conduct our research.

Statement:

"Technology/stewardship agreements required for the purchase of genetically modified seed explicitly prohibit research. These agreements inhibit public scientists from pursuing their mandated role on behalf of the public good unless the research is approved by industry. As a result of restricted access, no truly independent research can be legally conducted on many critical questions regarding the technology, its performance, its management implications, IRM, and its interactions with insect biology. Consequently, data flowing to an EPA Scientific Advisory Panel from the public sector is unduly limited."

STATEMENT FROM SCIENTISTS

Christian Krupke, an assistant professor at Purdue, said that because outside scientists could not study Pioneer’s strategy, “I don’t think the potential drawbacks have been critically evaluated by as many people as they should have been.”

Dr. Krupke is chairman of the committee that drafted the statement, but he would not say whether he had signed it.
