"As we celebrate National Gardening Month,
there’s no better time to reiterate how important agriculture
is to our economy and our diets —
even the kind in your own backyard."
--Tom Vilsack, Sec of Ag
The alarming fact is that foods –
fruits, vegetables and grains –
now being raised on millions of acres of land that no longer
contains enough of certain needed nutrients, are starving us --
no matter how much we eat of them.
U S Senate Document 264 1936
Our food system is rapidly losing its ability to produce food with nutrient levels ad- equate to maintain the health of our families. There is no guarantee that the food produced and harvested meets nutritional standards needed to maintain good health. To change this threat to the health of our families and the families of the world an effec- tive strategy to increase the nutritional values of our food and restore the minerals and organic material in our depleted our soils is needed.
The Nutrition Security Institute (NSI) aims to restore depleted soils,

TOM VILSACK ON THE PEOPLE"S GARDEN PROJECT
BEGINNING
We need an honest and authentic Dialogue on Science,
Ethics, and Food.
I planted seeds with Dr. Robert Fraley, father of Round Up Ready,
when I met him at the AAAS in Feb 2011. This is not the time
to berate or villify anyone, this is the time to allow for honest
research that is separate from corporate policy regarding seeds
that may likely be misguided.
We need to get help Monsanto Corps come home to Saint Louis
as a company deserving of public support. We need to have a future
including Monsanto that involves each of us being an Organic Uprising!
Standing up for Nature's Original Technology is the message for this moment
in time post March 11.
I stand with the intent of Sec of Ag Tom Vilsack when he began
the People's Garden Project in 2009.
The People's Garden Project needs to stand behind Organic
sustainable practices 100 %. Co-existence with conventional and GE
production has not been tested.
The evidence appearing on the table, even on the desk of Sec of Ag
Vilsack indicates we need to Chew on Food Safety: A National Conversation
is needed. Slow down.
We cannot afford to deregulate GE Seeds of any kind.
The economy and health of the US and the world cannot afford this.
Please, if GE seeds work and can benefit humanity, prove it
truthfully.
The White House now needs to get fully in the farm bed of its own
White House Garden that was intended to be organically grown.
Slow down.
Get in sync with the beat of nature.
Encourage every child to and grown up to grow a bit of our own food.
KEEP THE BEET
Keep the beat with nature through growing a simple beet in a pot
surrounded by Organic Alfalfa Seeds.
INTENTION
WE ARE ALL REFUGEES NOW
"An emergency session here of the national executive committee of the American Jewish Congress was summoned yesterday for Aug. 6 by Dr. Joseph Tenenbaum, its chairman, to formulate a coordinated plan of action in behalf of the Jews of Germany."
Just as the International Rescue Committee originally met
to rescue refugees, we need to realize that we are all refugees now
until we reestablish our beat with nature, and right relationship
between "Man, Woman, Child, and Vegetable."

MESSAGE TO THE PRESIDENT
I know you know what organic food is.
You have it in your own garden.
I know you know the problems with child obesity
in our nation. Your wife has set out to mend this.
She has set out to improve school lunch programs.
I cannot make sense of what is happening,
unless truly one hand does not know what the other is doing.
Mr. President, I have a sense that if you left
the future of the country to those in the local community,
we could help get out of our food emergency.
I met a young man who was working with the kids teaching
Marshall arts to give them a sense of self.
I am confused about the the People Garden Project Initiative
that set out to establish organic gardens. How do we come to terms
with this in light of the recent deregulation of Genetically Engineered
alfalfa?
We appear to be speaking out of both sides of our mouth at the same
time.
You appear to be defining business as doing Biotech...
the deregulation of GE Seeds as something good for the economy.
This does not hold up in light of good business.
The pressure to export Biotech Ag around the world will not
be good for 1000 years of peace. It is a short term economic
gain at the loss of a long term harming of potential health.
I saw local planners in recent weeks attempting to make laws
without an understanding of gardening principles.
I saw contingents of farmers, who if we allowed them to
do what they could do, could help us get out of our food emergency.
I saw Bantu from Samali. Farmers from Lebanon,
I am often reminded of the power of nature's technology.
I had not seen the farmers who were standing on the sidelines
ready to help.
These IRC farmers could be our salvation.
I see the food from the IRC garden being some of the most
popular.
I see them being the real leaders.
Their food will become very popular.
We need to let the people go, free them, to grow food.
Free us from over regulation that would restrict and burden us.
I see a great harm coming from exporting biotech ag to countries
that need their diversity of seeds protected.
I see pressure in Kenya and Mexico.
I see investments that will not help People's Gardens on the ground
long term.
I see the People Garden Initiative on the one hand calling upon
organic principles, and then, I see you being pressured and convinced
by your allies to imagine that BioTech Ag is good for business.
White House is in the farmbed with Biotech Ag
We are healthy, and getting healthier in City Heights.
We could lead the nation if people, more and more were encouraged
to grow gardens and regain their beat with nature.
I saw organic plant life growing,
but vulnerable to pressure from Biotech.
Most people do not know how to eat,
and our farm bill is not helping.
I see Michelle aiming to solve the problem on the one hand,
while we help grow the problem with the other.
Kids need to how to eat.
If only it was left to the local people...
to the academics to do true research on the science
of organic....
We could do it here in San Diego....we are doing it....
I saw a healthy vibrant community...
I do not see City Heights being the same...
Each segment needs to be no more than three minutes....
in length...
