On the day, the earth shook Japan,
more than 500 core organic industry leaders
gathered at the Natural Product Expo West
March 11, 2011. Many points of view
were expressed. A shared theme:
No to GMO proliferation.
In Japan and in the U.S.,
beyond saying No,
we are being asked to say yes,
to stand up for Nature's Original Technology.
The assault on our gene pool
and the nuclear assault are the same assault.
We have misplaced our beat with nature,
and the beat will return now
through many of us hearing the call
to grow some of our own food
and honor those who are growing
what can become an unlimited supply
of therapeutic quality food
grown through the hands of
tens of thousands more farmers
that are being asked now by nature herself
to lead the way.
This is the moment for an Organic Uprising!

What is this?
"Organic" designates a quality of produce and
products today, but organic means more than this.
Organic is a lifestyle, the fruits of a labor intensive
and joyfilled way of living
that asks to be reawakened.
This is the moment of awakening.
Return to the earth.
Turn our beat around with nature.
THE HISTORY OF PEACE ON EARTH
Kelly Shea, White Wave, a company that aspires
to be the Earth's Favorite Food Company,
was a tremendous ally for the historic launch of
Standing up for Nature's Original Technology,
Organic Uprising!
The launch took place at the Natural Product Expo West.
Throughout the show, attended by more than 55,500
I carried a few bowl filled compostable comtainers of
organic alfalfa seed.
On the day President Obama mandated his USDA
to fully deregulate alfalfa seeds and give free reign
to GE GMO proliferation of our seed supplies
the organic alfalfa seeds spoke loud and clear.
They asked me to go into our Enchanted Garden
and begin to grow them.
Do we imagine that our whole evolutionary progress
toward an organic lifestyle could be set aside
by a few among us who have set our sailed on another
evolutionary course other than what is inherently
of the earth?
Do we dare to imagine that the soul of our species
and the earth herself are somehow separate,
that events at the Expo and events 5.500 miles away
are somehow disassociated and unrelated?
This is our Spring 2011.

Practical Warrioring In Japan - We Are All One Life Together

I just received an email from a friend in Japan reminding me that we ALL are being called to accept a higher view of our interrelatedness during this transitional time, because we all are affected by these events in profound ways. The world isn't ending, but our old worldview is.
If we are truly One Life, then what affects any of us affects all of us.
This includes the stones, plants, animals, and the greater Life that
we call "Earth." What's going on is about more than just an earthquake
and tsunami creating a local (and potentially global) nuclear crisis.
This is about our relationship to the greater Life that we are all together.
The events of this time and the next thousand days will show us that any sense of separateness is an illusion that must end. As a result of this and major events to come in the relatively near future, we are all moving into a great evolutionary leap that's happening whether we perceive it or not. These will offer us opportunities to end fear and remind us we are not separate from the life around us.
I believe what follows speaks a deeper wisdom in this time of great uncertainty. If the Warrior is also the Guardian, then to paraphrase a part of our dialog, these times call us to a deeper concern about "our collective future, and the current state of the human mind... It is all good." This is what he wrote me:

Here, we are all fine but a little bit concerned of what is really happening out there. As you know, the situation is not nice and extremely unclear.
Pictures speak by themselves and the government seems to be unable to deal with the nuclear situation. The good news is that my Gamma Scout has NOT been measuring high radiation levels at this point in Nagano,
so that is a bit reassuring....;-)
The last couple of days, I have been pondering about our preparations,
what can we learn from this experience and apply it into our future community projects. Firstly, and more important,
to which degree can we really prepare for a nuclear fallout?
Is it truly possible? What kind of existence can we have after it falls...?
We have started a free social networking idea called Intentions flashmob--utilizing our social networks so that within minutes, hundreds/thousands of people(Virtual First Responders), will be sending strong positive intentions to balance and harmonize a stressful event.
*We don't have to meet anywhere, we're all connected."
We know our energy impacts our world.
We want to support our local community
by becoming a front line for reducing fear
and promoting balance during a crisis.
We propose a virtual communication
network for disasters large and small,
such as a public health emergency,
weather event, etc.
We are creating a mobile community of
Virtual First Responders where each person contacts their social network whenever a major event is imminent, or in progress, and sending a positive intention toward the event.
We speak with leading Japanese cultural anthropologist and environmentalist Keibo Oiwa in Yokohama. He is the founder of the Sloth Club, Japan’s leading "Slow Life" environmental group. “I’m realizing again that democracy is so hollow now. We do not have power,” Oiwa says. “We have been controlled by the government and the Tokyo Electric Company, a private company... We have to really look for a lifestyle and a way of thinking again, to live again with harmony, in harmony with nature.” [includes rush transcript]

JUAN GONZALEZ: Last night, Democracy Now! reached a prominent Japanese cultural anthropologist and environmentalist, Keibo Oiwa. He is the founder of the Sloth Club, Japan’s leading "Slow Life" environmental group.
KEIBO OIWA: My name is Keibo Oiwa. I’m speaking from Yokohama, Yokohama, Japan. And I’m a professor at the university. And as a professor, I am wondering what I can do from here. And I’m very afraid that already radiation is out flowing, and that would affect especially pregnant women and younger children, small children. So, I’m trying to organize a kind of a network where people in the western Japan who can accept pregnant women and people with children from the eastern part of Japan. And so far, many people already have raised their hand, saying that, you know, they are welcoming people coming from the eastern part of Japan.
And what I want to say at this point to the people outside of Japan is that they should try to stop all the nuclear power, you know, eliminate or stop right now. Especially I’m very concerned about California, you know, like the West Coast of the United States, where there are lots of earthquakes. I want you to do the best to really, I mean, put an end to this crazy story, crazy system, that is based on greed and anger and ignorance.
And I’m really realizing again that, you know, democracy is so hollow now. I mean, we don’t have power. This is not democracy. We are controlled—we have been controlled by the government and the Tokyo Electric Company, you know, a private company. This is a big lesson to be—for us to be humble, in front of a natural—big natural power, power of nature. And we have to really look for a lifestyle and a way of thinking again, to live again with harmony, in harmony with nature.

THESE ARE OUR AIMS
1-To support mobilization of one Farmers’ Market in our local area, the Hillcrest Farmers’ Market in San Diego. To continue to work with local organic farmers and help them sell more of their produce.
2-To continue to develop a 1/3 acre parcel of land near San Diego State College named the Enchanted Garden Intentional Community Growing Grounds where those who live here and who live around the world may study our process of learning how to keep the beat with nature through learning to live together cooperatively as a household that seeks to live in harmony with the earth. The motto of the house will be Keep The Beet. Through growing a simple beet in a pot, we can regain our beat with nature. Not all in the house garden. Some like to prepare food. Others help with other jobs, or rent. The land, as of January 2010 is being refinanced. A Trust to hold the land is being explored. The Seed Dream would be to leave a museum and park for future generations to learn from this experiment in cooperative living that has been going on since the early 1970′s. The intent is that what we learn here can help others, and Washington, understand and adapt to some of the shifts being asked of all of us now.
3- To develop relationships with those who influence Washington and government. A vast coalition across all political, religious, and philosophical lines has now formed. Mainstream media needs to be reached through bloggers filling the gap where journalism once told all points of view. Elected leaders need to be encouraged to follow the principles expressed in the song “America The Beautiful.”
4- We see the world as we know it now coming to an end. A Shift has already happened. It is for each of us to adapt to the earth and relearn the laws of nature, rather than attempt to further adapt nature to our ways. The source of our economic and health crisis is that we have lost our beat with nature. We can regain the beet through becoming once again a nation of gardeners who live in a world of gardeners. One Pot+One person=You are a Gardener. Start to grow your own food now.
