What Was the Mystery Plant at NPEW?
What was the mystery plant seen everywhere
at the Natural Product Expo West March 10-13, 2011
at the Anaheim Convention Center?
It was a bowlful of remaining seeds of organic alfalfa
growing in a BioSmart Packaging sugar cane bagasse compostable
pot.
The message was: now is time for an Organic Uprising,
and to clean up our mess on both land and sea.
Now is the time, and we are all the one beat (and beet...)
many pulses who are here to do this.

as channeling through Leslie Goldman

Throughout the evening at the Organic Center Dinner
and Fundraiser at the Natural Product Expo West,
one of the largest trade show's in North America
held March 10-13, 2011 at the Anaheim Convention Center,
there was a mystery plant on the podium
in full view.
In the audience that night
where the organic stakeholders, close to 500 of them,
who gratefully paid $175.00 a ticket to
support the non-profit Organic Center that
aims to put out real science to all eyes and hears.
Among the long time supporters at the Organic Center
fundraiser that night were some of its lead sponsors
including Gary Hirshberg of Stonyfield Farms; Walt Robb
of Whole Foods Market (WFM) , and George Seimon of Organic Valley.
The three were at the recent USDA hearings to deregulate
Alfalfa in December.
Others at the Banquet included key organic supporters--
tables full--including lead Non-GMO Project supporters including
Nature's Path, White Wave (Horizon and Silk), and some of the
Organic Industries other lead non profits
including the Organic Farming Research Foundation (OFRF),
and the Organic Trade Association (OTA).
THE PLANT ON THE PODIUM
The plant on the podium--
It was a bit of green coming up from a round
white bowl-like container. It was clearly visible
through every speaker who stood at the podium.
Noted M.C. Sara Snow placed it there.
It given to her by Walt Robb, CEO of Whole Foods.
Earlier that day, the plant was on the stage of one of the
lead panels of the 2010 show, the full house gathering
on GMO's. That gathering was historic. It featured
more than 500 people from the Industry who came together
in many diverse opinions--all holding hands and hearts
in one single beat that generations to come will be
free of GMO contamination.
Leslie Goldman, AKA Your Enchanted Gardener,
a friend of the beat of nature, who has been encouraging
every person he meets to grow an organic beet in a pot
for three years now. One Person+ One Pot=You are a Gardener,
he says.
He brought the plant to the Natural Product Expo West,
at my direction--who am I? I am Keep The Beet
Media Star, the World's FIrst Talking Beet Plant,
heading to Hollywood to be animated and aiming
to get the message out--that now is the time
for an Organic Uprising!
The plant was organic alfalfa growing,
and the pot was made of sugar cane Bagasse,
a throwaway by-product of sugar cane production
made by a company called BioSmart Packaging
that is helping more than 200 farmers in Asia.
