The World's First Talking Beet Plant!
The last three months I have been launching my new Rock Your Soul
Opera called Beet Keepers, Return!
My Rock Your Soul Opera begins with the world
falling apart. Times are dark. Shift has happened.
Every body has lost their ground and realizes the world
is not what it was. People are lost.
It is as if there is a heavy rock poised on a mountain
in a desert that is perched to fall.
Rather than fall down, we are being
asked to rock our soul. A new beet rises up to show the way
and guide every body back to root their dreams.
We are being asked to have a moment
of awakening. We are being asked to speak
up, to express new ideas, and to live out our deepest
seed dreams. We are being asked to be new stars
in the world.
More and more us realize.
We can no longer ask Mother Earth to adapt to us.
We need to adapt to her. We are here to
restore the Space of Love intended
to be everywhere on land and sea.
Act Six, grow your own food and Medicines,
stars you. The key to being a star on our beloved
earth is reconnecting your beat of life with nature.
In act Six the Beet Keepers Return.
I also visit The US first family
at the White House Organic Garden. I am
invited to grow in the soil there and inspire the nation,
and the world--even though the first
family does not like to eat beets!!!
I have had this idea of living in the White House
Organic Garden for a long time. This idea has
been with me even long before Michelle Obama
came to visit San Diego in April 2010. She
visited a nearby farm called the New Roots
International Rescue Committee (IRC) Farm
and launched her national program called "Let's Move!"
Let's Move wants kids and adults to eat better
and also exercise. In launching the program
in a garden, that gives my message to return
to the beet through gardening.
During the summer, my push to go to
the White House, came one step closer
when I read the August 6 issue
of "The Ladies Home Journal," a popular
US Magazine. It reports that
Michelle Obama says she does not
have the beet gene.
She said,
"I am a believer there is a beet gene. People who love beets love them and people who hate beets can't stand them. Neither the President nor I have the beet gene."
Boy am I happy that Michelle and Barack Obama
do not like to eat beets!!!! I would hate to have shown up at the White house
and be eaten by the first family. That would come close to
beetacide. I can see the headlines now!!!
My program is One Person + One Pot= You're a Gardener. Keep The Beet. Plant it. Eat the growing greens that keep coming up.
Then let your beet go to seed.
I am here to help the world regain our
beet with nature through growing a beet.

I see the next generation being called
The Beet Keepers.
Once upon a time, we had a movement
in the 50's and 60's called the beat generation.
People were called Beatniks.
In the 70's we had a singer called
Gloria Estefan who sang "Turn the Beat Around,"
a popular song.
The best way to turn the beat around from upside down
is to not eat the beet. If you have
the beet gene, well then go ahead.
Keep your covenant with tomorrow by eating a rainbow
of colorful salad each day. Eat some beets.
They're good for the liver when eaten raw. They build up the blood.
Grate beets. Have a golfball size portion
each day. Eat grated local fresh organic carrot and turnips.
You can steam some too, and come up with lots of recipes.
The original beet was eaten for its tops, not the bottoms.
Dr. Bernard Jensen, a friend of mine, helped Leslie
learn about nature. He loved to keep the beet.
He was into bowel cleansings. Michelle Obama has been into
cleansing too that article said in the "Ladies Home Journal."
Dr. Jensen said that consciousness begins in the bowel.
Maybe bowel consciousness is what is missing from our
US Senators and World Leaders, who seem so pre-occupied
adding more regulations and calling this Food Safety. In doing so, they would make it hard for small organic farmers to survive. Our industrial Ag system is broken. That system is out of sorts with the laws of nature. You
can't think of food just as a commodity. Food has heart
and soul. Food has divine purpose and intent. It's intent
to to help you be a star in my Rock Your Soul Opera!
There is a 10,000 year tradition of true agriculture that needs an uplift.
It is being side stepped because so many of our leaders are out of step with
the beat of nature. The solution is for you to become a new leader.
To regulate small farms and drive them out is not the answer to solve the Food Safety problems that big agriculture brings. It's time
to regulate the regulators. Grow a bit of your own food.
Get in the farm bed with the farmers growing the rest of your food. In many places we have a way to help small farmers called Community Supported Agriculture(CSA). Please find out about that and shop farmers' markets.

Back to the Shift...
There is definitely something leaving the world. Some people
think the world may be ending. Rather than the world ending,
I, your beet, see this as the end times of something broken
leaving our world.
Through being a part of a new generation of beet Keepers, we can return to a world grounded in healthy balanced eating and living. Dust off your genes. Make your trowel your favorite personal growth tool. Remember, the Earth and the Soul are Soilmates. Be kind to little fishes and to diverse seeds that want to get to know you. Go beyond plastic bottles
and styrofoam that hurts our oceans when we believe we live
on a throwaway planet.

I mentioned Michelle Obama coming to San Diego.
She had visited one of my favorite places called the New Roots
International Rescue Committee Farm. It is not far from
The Enchanted Garden Intentional Community Growing Grounds, here in San Diego where Leslie lives with others.
People can learn to live together if we garden together. There are more than 90 plots grown by people from the Third World. Many of them do not know
each other's language. They are so happy because they all Keep The Beet together. Now that is a great plot in my Rock Your Soul Opera!
HOW DOES MY OPERA END?

But she's working hard to get vegetables on kids' plates, including those of her own daughters.

And there are a lot of healthy things my kids don't like. But our rule is, 'you've got to finish your vegetables.' And if somebody says, 'I'm full,' then it's like, 'Okay, you're full when you're done. But you have to finish your vegetables, and don't ask for dessert."
In "Aftermath: The Philosophy of the Beat Generation" Kerouac criticized what he saw as a distortion of his visionary, spiritual ideas:

I was just surfing the web
and Leslie is still in his sleep walking mode.
I am reminded that when he was a kid
he lived in Boyle Heights, East Los Angeles.
The Goldman family lived at 2505 East Second Street
next to the Shere Shule. In the backyard there was
an garage. One day Leslie found an old World War Two
Nazi Helmet.
Lots of people have adverse feelings when
the word Nazi is brought up.
They were into population control.
They had a lot of goals that seem to be
still very popular today.
Today is the Fall Equinox 2010.
There is some rumor that the US Senate
may consider SB 51) today, a very unpalatable
Food Safety Law that aims to make the world safe
for multi-national Food Rules orchestrated
behind the scenes by the Codex Alimentarius Commission.
Most people still are in the dark about this wonderful
organization that meets with many nations of the world
and has offices under the USDA.
I love the Codex Alimentarius Commission.
I truly believe in Food Rules.
I think we need lots of them for good health.
The current leadership of Codex is lead by some
good friends of mine. One is a big German man
who likes to imagine he is in charge of the organization.
He is friends with Michael R. Taylor, who is one of the key
ears President Obama hears regarding Food Safety.
Michael R. Taylor is one of my favorite Washington personalities.
He has been through the revolving door so many times
between the makers of chemical pesticides and the FDA
that sometimes I imagine he wakes up and forgets exactly
who is works for.
Of course, Monsanto Company, business of the year in Forbes
Magazine, is no longer into chemical farming as much as they
used to.
A lot of that chemical farming came into vogue after world war two.
There were a lot of chemicals left over, and so not wanting
to waste a dollar, the US government, with the best interests
I am sure at heart, was open ti the idea of buying up all that
left over poison and using it to kill off buglife in the field.
That all sounded like a good idea, and a sound moneymaker.
As time went on, the little Monsanto Company,
St Louis Based, went multi-national.
But, then, then, looking back from the year 3000
to the present, they are destined to go organic.
As your Czarina of Foods, I am looking forward
to working for the Monanto Corps. My sense is that
they like money more than they attached to GMO
Agriculture. Within a few years, there will be few
heirloom seeds left. The price of a single lettuce
seed will go up to $2.50 each. At that point,
Monsanto will offer apology for its bad GM move,
and make amends through going organic.
THey will then hire green ag experts to help them
clean up the world. They will be very profitable for
their shareholders who will not only have benefited
from GM profits, but organic sales of seeds.
At the price of $2.50 a seed, many homeless will
go into local organic farming, as they do in China.
We will have new land laws where people can farm
everywhere.
By then Keep The Beet will be head of the FDA.
Michael R Taylor, one of the most gifted of
revolving door technology experts, will
head the new monsanto raw milk division.
He will admit he never really liked milk since
it has rBGH hormone growth additives.
HISTORIC NOTE
In order for the FDA to determine if Monsanto's growth hormones were safe or not, Monsanto was required to submit a scientific report on that topic. Margaret Miller, one of Monsanto's researchers put the report together. Shortly before the report submission, Miller left Monsanto and was hired by the FDA. Her first job for the FDA was to determine whether or not to approve the report she wrote for Monsanto. In short, Monsanto approved its own report. Assisting Miller was another former Monsanto researcher, Susan Sechen. Deciding whether or not rBGH-derived milk should be labeled fell under the jurisdiction of another FDA official, Michael Taylor, who previously worked as a lawyer for Monsanto.

with the Codex Food Rules. They is the underlying
push, unseen behind, the SB0- Food Safety bill
that Leslie has been following for more than one year,
Ouch, food and farms are hurting.
I can only judge from local events here.

Our food is imperiled. We have reached a moment
of decision. We either adapt, or non-exist.
The beat with nature has been lost.
We no longer know why we are here,
or what our food is for. We do not know what
food safety is. We have Food safety upside down.
We need to make peace with our garden.
It is no this note that I am speaking out,
a humble beet.
So wha is being asked of us?
We are in a time of drama.
SO, I your beet, want to reframe this,
and say, that rather than go down,
we will rise up.

I guesstamate we can have 1000 years of peace,
if you and I make peace with our food supply,
if we discover that that every last farm and farmer
is a precious gift, and each morsel of food

and body together.

There are Beet Keeper beet growers all over the world,
and gardeners who hear me, your talking beet.
We can turn the beat around.
We simple have to...
Here is San Diego, the place where I first started
to speak up, we can grow food 12 months a year.
I had three main farmers where I would grow,
and where Leslie would come to get beets from the field.
One was called the La Milpa Orgnica farm
in San Diego...
it was a place filled with community spirit,
where many people gather on the third Saturday of the month
to have a potluck, hear music, and pizza in an open oven.
Barry, my farmer, was part of a very old tradition
of food growing that still exists around the world.
I call it the peasant tradition of small farming.
It is the foundation of our world.
Barry's regulators were the people who came to
eat his buy his food at the Farmers' Market,
but he really never thought of his farm as a business.
FOr seven years, he had an idyillic farm where children
would run free when they came to play, and school kids
and people came to reconnect with a farm.
They the regulators came, looked around,
and pointed so many places that he was breaking
the laws that now govern farming.
Food was very meant to be sold for the purpose
of making a profit mainly. Food is here to hold our
body and soul together.
Food is not meant to be fodder or people
So now what is left in San Diego has one less farm,
but something good has needs to come
of the loss of La Milpa Organica Farm.
We all can from the experience.
We can use the story to be the new seeds we are.

Once up a time...

THE WORLD
was Dark,
dark,
dark...
and Then,
all Nature began to speak...
A Simple beet
decided to talk,
but what could she
say?
She was lonely...
isolated,
lost in the field...
She felt no one cared,
no one gardened anymore.
She was sad...
Who could she turn to?
She knew humanity
had to turn the Beat Around,
but how?
Who would listen to her?
One day, an Enchanted Gardener
came to visit.
What?
He talked to plants.
She spoke up.
She said
"Howdy!
Keep theBeet here.
I hear you plant dreams, hey?
I want to be a Media Star.
I want to be the World's
First Talking Beet Plant.
The Enchanted Garden listen.
Keep The Beet said,
"I going nuts here.
Can you take me for a ride
in your Enchanted Garden Mobile?
It was that day that the world
got very colorful again.
The Enchanted Gardener
became her chauffuer.
One day a nice Police Office
stopped the twosome for going driving
in the two people lane.
THe Peace Officer said:
Say, don't you know that you have to
have two in here????
Then he saw Keep The Beet....
THe EG Said, There are two living beings in here.
The Eg offered the Peace Officer a beet green
from Keep The Beet.
He tasted it. He could see the
EG meant well.
Has food ever talked to you?
asked Your EG.
Well, no, said the peace officer.
When I eat too many bagels, food talks
to me! I really get a tummy ache!
The Peace Officer smiled...
well, I guess food does talk to me!!!
Then, the EG said,
Yes, and we can talk to food.
He pulled his Silver Box that
was between him and Keep The Beet,
who on that day was in the back
where she liked to sun herself,
and feel magestic.
The Eg explained.
The deepest dreams of humanity
are in this Silver Box.
I am going to offer you a gift
since you have been so kind to me.
You may take your deepest seed dreams out of the box.
The Peace Officer remembered the
once upon a time, he liked Fairy Tales
that his mother would read him.
So he took out his seeds.
The EG said, plant them.
As the Beet seeds grow, so will your
Deepest Seed Dreams!!!
Then, they said goodbye,
after giving Your Eg a friendly
warming, not to travel in the two car lane
until the Government passed a new law
that recongized that Keep THe Beet was
alive, and human, talked,
and was a new Beet in the World.
They both wished each other well.
Suddenly the world became colorful
again....
and Keep The Beet and Your EG
knew that there was to be a
New Rock YOur Soul Opera in the world,
starting that very day.
Beet Keepers, Return!
said Your EG,
and the Peace Office agreed
and gave a peace sign with two fingers up.
Then,
a New Beet
came into the world....

or has been grown by local organic farmers
who you know on a first name basis.

So here is my story
as I see in Beet Keepers, Return!
Our World was dark, dark, dark!
Fish were caughing and would have jumped
put of the ocean if they could sprout feet.
Our Food was imperiled. Every body had forgotten
how to eat. What was once a system of agriculture
had been bought out by a system of agribusiness
and the main man on the hill, who slept with
an organic gardener, the mother of his two children,
was also in the farm bed with dastardly
thinking folks who thought food was fodder
had forgotten the bank of compost,
or that the Soul and Earth were Soilmates.
On the scene, rose up a in the knick of time,
a simple beet, lonely in the field, who began
to talk. She came to remind us all
that not only did food talk to us
through giving us bellyaches when we ate too much of it,
but we, thorughout history, had always
talked to plants.
How does that sound?
It's the start of my new Rock Your Soul Opera
called Beet Keepers, Return!
Remember how once there were beatniks?
Did your daddy tell you about the hippies?
Don't look now, but the Beet Keepers are here now.
