Talking to Tina at Westbridge Agricultural Products
A great first meeting with Tina Koenemann
of Westbridge Agricultural Products,
an exhibitor at the California Small Farm 2010

I just met Tina Koenemann
from Westbridge.
She tells me her company is often just called
Westbridge. Westbridge is short
for Westbridge Agricultural Products.
Her company manufactures Organic Liquid
Plant Nutrients, surfactants...
Whoa!
What is a surfactant, I asked her?
They are things like spreader sticker,
something that growers use in conjunction
with biological pest control products to help
stick the biological products to the plant leaf
surface.
That is just one thing Tina manufacturers.
She also manufactures insect repellents
made of garlic. She also manufacture NPK
fertilizers all made with organic raw materials.
I told Tina about my project with the teens
at Hamilton High in Los Angeles. I am going
to give some advise about a garden that they want
to put in.
Tina, I ask, would you like to be a sponsor
of this project to help the teens?
Tina said, "Yes of Course!"
So I will be getting some of her products
and using them in the garden.
I think every school of kids needs a garden.
It is good to meet Tina.
I saw her exhibit the first night of the
California 2010 Small Farm Conference here in San Diego
February 28, March 1 and 2.
Then I had
a dream during the night that this was something
that KEEP The BEET Media Star,
The World's First Talking Beet Plant
wanted to root for.
Fast forward, 24 hours.
Tina and I meet in the foyer at the registration table.
By now I have made some friends within the conference.
I have set up a blogging station at the conference
registration table. Tina comes by.
So we carry on a wonderful meeting.
Tina tells me that she distributes the company products
primarily in California, Oregon, and Washington.
I introduce her to Keep the Beet,
who by now was sitting in her pot growing
on the registration table.

I asked Tina what she thought of my project
I started last week to create a dialogue between
lovers of GMO's and Lovers of Organic.
She pointed out that GMO's are not allowed in certified
organic farming under the USDA national organic program.
We were sitting at the registration desk writing, and
I was blogging as I was talking. I made more than one
typo. I was speed writing, creating a first draft for this
Plant Your Dream blog.
I clarified that I knew that within the USDA national
organic standards, GMO's are not allowed.
The purpose of the dialogue
is to start a conversation so we can grow the best possible
future. The Dialogue on Science, Ethics, and Food (DoSEF)
was inspired by my recent visit to the American Association
for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) 176th Annual Meeting
March 18-22 in San Diego. AAAS has a Program called
a DoFER, a Dialogue on Science, Ethics, and Food.
I was very impressed with its goals to create peace,
and at least lessen the tension
between Science and people of Faith.
My meeting with Tina turned out to be a great meeting.
I asked Tina what would she be celebrating one year from now?
I call this bringing to mind a Seed Dream.
A Seed Dream is an idea that deeply matters,
that deeply is in inside of us wanting to
grow in soil. It can be a soul-inspired idea,
something we want to see happen.
Tina's Seed Dream
brought to mind her grandson, Julian
who will be one year old one year from now.
I likes getting to know this wonderful part of
Tina's life and dream.
