and find Appleworks applications.

What Plants Can Do for You!
The Power of Fragrance
The capacity to cause inspiration is powerful! Plants can definitely inspire, and always have through their color, shape, texture, and taste, but nothing touches the depth of my inner being and compels me to create as much as the power of fragrance.
Natural fragrances are mood altering! Frangrances can lift you out of the doldrums. They can turn a day around. They can be a best friend when it comes to getting in touch with blocked emotions through causing energy to move!
How is this possible? The power of scent is one of our oldest physical sensual experiences. Of the five phuysical senses--sight, sound, scent, touch, and taste--smell is among the most primal. It touches the core of our feeling nature; it reminds us to feel.
Frangrances can pull us back into our bodies. Fragances are a sensual emersion experience. They say, "Whoa!" Stop, smell the roses! Take a deep swiff of life, love, and who you really are!
Take peppermint. Crush it between two hands. and Rub it back and forth until some moisture can be felt in your palms. Keep the hands closed so the fragrance does not escape. Then inhale it with the eyes closed through the mouth, breathing deeply into the lungs. Instant transformation! The person is present, awake, alert. Their attention is with you. They are ready to listen. You have presented a mysterious gift, a tool to bring another person home to their senses! You have reminded them of something so deep, so essential, so everyday in the life of the species, and something so forgotten!
Fragrant herbs are friendship builders
Fragrant herbs are also friendship builders. Then invite communication. Over many years, I have discovered that in very busy and hectic conference settings and in environments where there are many distractions, aromatic herbs can save the day! They can get a conversation going in a moment. Offering an herb for inhalation is a peace of mind offering! It is the equivalent of asking someone to join you in a cup of tea. Presenting a aromatic fragrance for inhalation, is also presenting a unique and wonderful gift of remembrance. Most times, the person will thank you.
Herbs are among my favorite fragrances
In the family of plants, among my favorite aromas are those that come from herbs. Many people are familar with the fragrance of a delightful rose, but not too many of us in our everyday lives realize that herbs are intensely enlivening to various organs and centers of the body.
Becoming a Conductor in your own Herbal Orchestra
Just as sound has come into popularity for its relaxation effects, why not become a master conductor of your own herbal orchestra of fragrances?
The following "beginner" herbs are among my favorites.
Peppermint--
Scented Geraniums--Much to our amazement and delight, there are more than 31 flavors of scented geraniums, each with its unique frangrance!
Scented geraniums are easy to grow and propagate.
Rose-Scented
Peppermint
Lemon Scented
Rosemary
I have one plant that grows right off the porch that I pass in route to get in my car for my daily travels. I also pinch a spig of rosemary and carry it in my pocket. It sooths the inner child. It helps me carry the world of the Enchanted Garden with me.
Rosemary can be a life-saver when it comes to returning home on the verge of a headache.
Being the Hit of the Party and
Your Own Dinner Table
The herbs also provide us numbers of edible flowers that will make you the hit of the party.
Society Garlic--Society garlic has a very pretty pink rosette of flowers that delights the taste bud--anyone who lives

FOOD
Food is enchanted substance. It can be used as medicine. It is alchemical by nature with the capacity to transform those who partake or keep us stuck in our tracks.
The world we live in--those of us--who live here in the U.S. as I know it, is inherently about cutting corners to get by. The Enchanted Garden is about leaving no rock unturned inside, so we can let the rocks and mineral outside grow as they will. The process of cutting everything down cuts us down in the process. 8/22/94
