It is the Shabbat
that end this Shavuot,
the Festival of Weeks,
an agricultural time of Harvest
and Celebration.
Yesterday, in the spirit of
Mercury Retrograde, I spend the
day feeling the dark side of
this Harvest. I was going through
an array of Old Biz cards from way back
and other things, some tossing out,
some organizing.
All in all it turned into a delightful
and healing day. I listened
to THE STORY OF STUFF no less
than four times. It is a 20 minute
documentary that scores a bullseye.
You can see this film online.
It is also part of the EARTH CINEMA CIRCLE
2009 VOLUME 3. I highly recommend this
compiiliation that also includes
ADDICTED TO PLASTIC, and RED GOLD.
I have written about ADDICTED PLASTIC HERE.
RED GOLD I was at the PRO PENINSULA
PATAGONIA ENVIRONMENTAL FESTIVAL
a number of months back. That is
a story that wrenched my heart and sent
me into a longing. It shows a lifestyle
of a people connected fully with the earth
in Alaska. Part of the booster shot that day
was also spending time with JULES DURVAES
and his lovely family. They also epitomized
a lifestyle of family and a group working together.
It is dark outside now.
How did I get off on that?
I wanted to share an exquisite last hour I am having
with a woman who has spent her
life full of life forces.
Her name is MALKA GOLDEN-WOLFE.
She was one of the Biz Cards I found that I had
saved during my cleanup last summer.
I wrote her, and she has written me back
twice. She invited me to look at her
website and palintings.
I realize I am in a longing right now.
A part of me is missing spending time
face to face with a particular dear friend
who is out of touch right now. I have memories
of previous highs of Shavuot when we would go
up the mountain together.
Remarkable.
So God send me another woman to enjoy
this late afternoon. What an adventure
visiting a journey of the feminine
through experiencing the life of Malka Golden-Wolfe
through her paintings and
web site.
There is a photo of her here:

She is the same age as my sister VIVIAN!
That too, is part of this remarkable story!
Vivian and Malka, then known in her teen years,
as Margie, were girlfriends in East Los Angeles,
Boyle Heights. I remember Margie as a young woman,
her strength, the twinkle in her eye, her vibrancy
and lust for life.
I can't say when I heard of her again.
I believe somewhere in the cobwebs of my
mind, I remember stories of about this teen who
had a "reputation." I want to ask Malka, age 65,
about that.
I also remember her father. He had an amazing
vehicle. He was a gun lover. The vehicle was covered
with guns! It was a museum on wheels or something
like that. Don't ask me how he attached all those guns,
or why, but I remember that. I believe they were shiny,
and cared for.
So out of this father, came the daughter,
one of the pioneers of woman's work
and the Goddess Tradition.
Somewhere in the 70's, I remember seeing a book
that Margie, then Malka wrote. I believe it had a photo
of her on the cover in a garden setting. I believe
her breasts were showing. Go girl.
I remember my sister's husband, Jack, a bit
of a conservative making a comment. I can't remember
where I was in my evolution at the time, or what
I thought. I do remember that I held on to that book
for a number of years. I believe there was poetry inside.
I am not sure how much I related to the writing. That
may have been during the late 60's, possibly.
I will have to ask her.
Another time, I believe I ran into her in the Savon
in the Fairfax area. That was before WHOLE FOODS MARKET
was in that location. I remember being tired.
I believe I may have just finished doing a Closing Ceremony
at the WHOLE LIFE EXPO the day before or something like that.
Those were the days i was in deep alienation from my
Jewish expression. I remember that she lived in the
Fairfax area then. She was into Jewish Mysticism of some
kind. I believe that was before I was. I imagine
I felt intimidated.
I am not sure if I ever saw her again. I did read
somewhere about her work in Malibu. It has been
decades since I even thought of her
until now.
From her email, I see she is married to another woman--
oh yes! I think I knew that.
She wanted to know if I had looked at her Gallery.
I had not.
Her paintings express a remarkable life journey.

There are four that I love on my first run through.
Two are of woman's bodies, one stunning in its energy,
the other more round.
I am talking to her in my mind, composing thoughts.
Malka, we share a common love for a Woman's Body.
Oh my, I do love the Woman's Body. What would
you expect from an Enchanted Gardener, who loves
the flowers and finds Divine Sensuality in fruits
and Vegetables?
There are also many paintings of Hebrew letters.
These I want to talk to her about.
I am feeling a renewed interest this past week,
especially with the passing of ARHEY HIRSHFIELD,
an incredible deep rabbi who touched his soul
and mine.
I can feel that Malka has lived her life at a deep
level.
It felt so very fulfilling today at Rabbi Wayne
and Ellen Dosick's home. We all had a very long smooze
and it was wonderful.
I want to thank RHONDA and DAVID for helping
me get up there. What a gift. Many Blessings to you
both!!!
Back to Malka....
Then, I read her bio...what a life story!
It makes me think of the one who I would like
to be seeing today and who I am seeing in my mind.
I would love for the friend who lives in my heart
to enjoy the life that Malka shares here.
I see them both on a similar path in many ways.
Enough said about that.

How very, very profound.
Thank you! Thank you so much,
Malka- Golden Wolfe for living your life
so fully. I can see we are Soul Kin
who came out of the same hood.
Outside, I am hearing a drizzle
on this end of Shavuot. How
remarkable.
Oh, I feel like calling Vivian
to tell her I am in touch with Malka!!!!
Back to exploring.
Thank you God, for this treasure
tonight. I am savoring this so very much.
