Playing Inner Child
My shamanic practitioner tells me my 4 year old child-within is feeling neglected by me--she wants to play more. This Chanukah I have been doing just that--I played around with some objects and had a lot of fun!

This is a double-sided square-based pyramid made out of 8" long plastic straws strung together. Energetically, the square base sits flat on the ground; one pyramid (representing the "Seen") rises up from the ground; the other pyramid is below the ground and points downwards (representing the "Unseen"). Together, they form a crystal. I'll probably cover at least part of the crystal with tissue paper to make it more "artsy-fartsy". Note the shadow on the wall looks like a Star of David.
Looking at the pyramid/crystal from a certain angle, you can see a Star of David more clearly in the formation--this is an optical illusion, as in 3D there is no Star, but when flattened into a 2-D photo (or appearing in the wall as a shadow) it appears to be there.
Last night was the 8th and final night of Chanukah. I ran out of Chanukah candles so I took took 8 tealight candles and put them in a circle, with the 9th candle in the middle as the Shamus (leader) candle, to create my own Menorah. Usually one is supposed to light the candles in the Menorah from right to left, but in a circle there is no beginning or end, so I lit the candles counter-clockwise. In this photo, some of the tealights have already burned out.
I started playing with the wax drippings from the Menorah and created this wax creature--melted wax from inside the still-burning tealights was pored around the base in order to stand it up. One thing led to another and I played with the melting wax of the candles until the candles burned out. It was fun! Like playing in the mud again! I had no idea of the time that went by and thought that the tealights didn't last very long--until looking at the clock I saw I'd been playing for almost 3 hours!
After the candles had all burned out, I decided to keep the wax drippings and empty tealight containers and wrapped the aluminum foil they sat upon over a round piece of cardboard from a frozen dinner pizza perfectly sized for the project. I call this "Last of the Chanukah Lights". My first sculptured Menorah in wax! My family Menorah is in the background.
