Shadow Mountains

Yesterday was good, very tiring. Drove out to see my shamanic practitioner at her home in the high desert. The trip took exactly 3 hours--I left at 7:45 am and got there at 10:45 am. There was a rain storm in the San Gabriel mountains that I had to go through--couldn't see past the end of my nose, so got in back of a truck and went 40 miles an hour up through the pass--as soon as we reached the summit at 4200 ft. the visibility cleared! I was so proud of my old Buick (over 96,000 miles)for doing so well in the storm--she didn't even strain herself going up the mountain--kept patting her dash and telling her what a good job she was doing. After clearing the summit and decending, got out of my car with rather shaky legs to take a photo of a huge rainbow. The rest of the drive was lovely--very cold and rainy on and off but I love the desert scenery--Joshua trees in the foreground and bare hills in the background and heavy clouds casting wonderful shadows. Listened to Christmas music on the radio all the way to my shaman's house.
I had a very good session with Grandmother; she helped me transmute some of my anxiety--a lot of it was "past life energies" about being "hunted" as a "witch" and other times I was on the "outs" with the church or some other power-that-be and was being sought to be killed. At one point when she was working on my neck I had a very distinct vision of a noose around my neck; it was very yucky energy coming off of me. Was very tired but relaxed when we were done after 2 hours, so I stayed for a bit and ate lunch and visited, then headed home.
After one mercifully brief rain squall and then some on and off drizzling, the scenery on the way home was even more spectacular than before. There were huge dark rain clouds that the wind was driving over a small range called the Shadow Mountains and they were casting all kinds of deep shadows on everything and really highlighting the terrain. I kept saying "wow!" and "Jesus!(being fully aware we were celebrating the day of His birth)" and "oh my god how beautiful!" Stopped and took a few photos but it was so cold and windy outside I had to get back in my car. Played some Stefani Valadez* music from a CD and some other Middle Eastern music on the way home to celebrate Chanukah (the fifth night) and got home after exactly 3 hours. The pass over the San Gabriel mountains was much better going home but then there was traffic going into LA--I guess that everyone was on their way home from Christmas and maybe people had to work today.
The whole trip was just under 340 miles, and 6 hours of driving! When I got home I lit the Chanukah candles, turned off all of the lights, and despite my fatigue I put on a CD and danced, danced, danced to get some movement back into my stiff body after all of that car sitting and tense driving. After exhausting myself, looked at the computer for a bit then watched a couple of Christmas specials on local public TV. Went to bed at 12:30 am and slept really soundly for about 6 hours straight before waking up for the first time--that's good for me. It was a good Christmas, all in all!
Had an interesting dream this morning--I dreamed about the wizard Gandalf the Grey(from the movie series "Lord of the Rings" based on J.R.R. Tolkien's books); the wizard's beard looked grey until I washed all the dirt off of it, and then it was rainbow colored! Gandalf was greatly surprised and pleased! The dream repeated itself a number of times in slightly different versions before I woke up a second time and got out of bed around 11:00 am this morning. Been playing around with some art stuff and taking some time to write. Grandmother says my 4-year-old inner child is feeling neglected by me and the child wants me to play more--dance, music, art--so that's what I'm doing!
Gonna go and play some more!
Hope everyone's Christmas was Merry!
Happy Chanukah!
Happy Kwanzaa!
Blessings,
Liora
