Pre-fast night - background and reasons for fast
background about me and why i'm doing this fast
Date: 12/28/2008 10:19:51 PM ( 16 y ) ... viewed 1148 times hi everyone! i just want to give you an overview of who i am and my reasons for doing this liquid fast as i prepare to start tomorrow. i'm a 21 yo female college student who has struggled with a variety of eating disorders for several years. i have been through many different types of therapy and continue to work on recovery, and after a variety of research, i have decided that a liquid fast might be a good idea. i know this might seem counterintuitive at first, but i actually think that it will allow me to tune into my hunger and fullness signals and realize the difference between emotional and physical hunger. i hope that i will be able to reach a point at which food won't have to occupy so much of my thoughts, and it seems that individuals who perform fasts come to this place after the third or fourth day. these are my main goals, but i would also like to lose a fair amount of weight. while i don't hope to accomplish all of my weight loss over the next three weeks (the length of the fast that i would like to go), i would like to get a good start. i'll be tracking my progress every other day or so.
i'm not restricting this to juice or water - rather, any liquid nutrients (e.g. milk, coffee, tea, etc.). i'll be doing my best to listen to my body and give it what it wants. i'll be posting my progress, both physically and mentally, and will be incorporating as much exercise into my days as possible. i'd really appreciate any support or input you guys have as i dive into my first fasting experience! thanks very much - i'll report back tomorrow!
p.s. - a first question: how much exercise have you found to be doable/reasonable during a liquid fast? i usually go to the gym for cardio and weights 5 times a week. do you think i can keep that up? thanks!
