Day 2 - Saying No to Hear Yes
The word No can change your entire world.
Date: 8/1/2008 12:51:38 PM ( 16 y ) ... viewed 2655 times Today is the second day of my fast. I am mostly drinking water, with 8-16oz of diet V8 Splash when I get really hungry, usually around dinner time. As the fast progresses, I will stop drinking the V8 and drink water only.
Last night was a little rough. Dinner is usually the reason many of my fasts have ended on the first day. Last night was almost like those other times. I even held a couple french fries in my hand and had an inner dialogue with myself weighing the pros and cons of eating it. "It will taste so good, and feel so good to have a full stomach." part of me said. "You know, if you eat this, you will just be dissapointed in yourself later and start trying to fast all over again tomorrow," the more rational and disciplined part of me said.
So...rational and disciplined won. I told the fat, gluttonous part of me "NO" and I am proud of myself for making it past that moment and being able to put those fries down. Now my mind and body are on the same page, and my body knows that I am serious about this fast and my mind is strong.
The word NO is a strange one. It's a word of negation, negativity and limitation that can somehow also open up a whole new world of positivity and new horizons, where the word YES is heard abundantly.
NO, you cant eat those fries or anything else for the next few weeks. But, YES you can be healthier, YES you can reach a normal weight, YES you can take control over your food addiction. So many yes's came from a single no.
It's a powerful word.
