I am feeling intensely drawn to drive more than 100 miles
one way to attend the Los Angeles Valley College Athletic Hall of Fame Banquet.
My Inner drive is compelling.
It feels like picking up pieces of my life from the past,
a powerful time of my past,
one of the most powerful times of my past.
As I consider going, I am overcome with emotion.
I did not realize the feelings go so deep.
I feel I am in the Best Year Ever of my Life.
Dreams that I have had for many years are being realized.
For 14 years, I had a seed planted that Health Communications Inc (HCI)
the publishers of the CHICKEN SOUP for the SOUL series would be my publisher.
That dream a few years ago. Now it is back stronger than ever.
Last time I saw Peter Vegso, HCI publisher was at the Book Expo America.
He wanted to encourage me to pursue writing the ULTIMATE PLANT LOVER book.
He was excited about the idea for the ULTIMATE SERIES that is HCI's bet
to replace the CHICKEN SOUP SERIES. HCI will continue to publish the old books,
but the new books in the series go to a new publisher.
Peter was excited about the ULTIMATE PLANT LOVER idea.
I asked him to back up his enthusiasm with some bucks.
He asked, "How much?"
I said, "$500.00" as a down payment.
He opened up his wallet and give me five $100.00 bills.
LAVC! Valley College!
Gosh.
I was just out of high school. I graduated from Fairfax.
We had a back quarterback Ed Mitchell, who was one of the
most exciting players who had ever had on our high school team.
That Fall, I entered Valley College. I was going to major in Journalism.
Ed Mitchell was going to Valley College too.
Near my first month in college, right after I started classes, my arthritis
condition flared. I spent numbers of weeks in the Cedars of Lebanon Hospital.
They still hadn't been able to diagose my condition.
There was a very strong minded head of the Journalism Department back then.
She played favorites. She did not take a liking to me. I was never sure if it
was because I was Jewish or because I was disabled. I never knew for sure.

Biography Dr Dewayne B Johnson,
We began friends at Cal State Northridge (then San Fernando Valley State College)>
That relationship was profoundly helpful.
He was the photo teacher. He gave me the lift I needed.
Mentor and friends do help.
