Pioneer jailed for Teaching Good Health. FDA Arrested him.
In 1958, V.E. Irons, a natural Product maker
and organic advocate was jailed for teaching
thqt good health was possible with natural living
and foods.
"...The prosecutor and judge Francis J.W. Ford promised Irons
he would not go to prison or pay any fine i
f he would just plead guilty and promise never again to claim
that there was a need in human nutrition
for the wholesome vitamins, minerals, fiber,
and herbs he was selling, for which FDA said
no need had ever been established.
FDA and government prosecutors also insisted he agree
to never again claim or imply that "…
nearly everyone in this country is
suffering from malnutrition
or in danger of such suffering because of demineralization
and depletion of soils and the refining and processing of foods…
" Irons refused this plea bargain, stating that,
"He would see them all in Hell before he signed
his name to a bunch of lies and falsehoods."
He was fined $6,000 and sentenced to 6 years,
one for each count.
He paid the fine and served 6 months
at the federal penitentiary at Danbury,
Connecticut rather than recant his teachings. "

I had a delightful time meeting Robert Irons
at the Dr. Bernard Jensen Centennial Celebration
Birthday Party!
Robert is the son of V.E. Irons.
Dr. Jensen loved the Irons products.
They are recommended in the
TISSUE CLEANSING THROUGH BOWEL MANAGEMENT BOOK.
I have used some the Bentonite product over the years
and want to get it back in my medicine cabinet.
I would use it to suck toxins out when I had a headache.
It seemed to help.
Dr. Jensen used it for pulling toxins out of the bowel.
Here is the story as I heard it from Robert:
In 1956, V.E. Irons was jailed for touting that healthy food--
was better than commerically grown food.
The case went to court.
The Judge was willing to dismiss the charges if V.E. Irons
promised to go out of business.
He said he would rather go to jail that give up saying
what he knew to be true.
He was sentenced to one year in jail.
V.E. Irons started to grow food in jail.
He made a garden. He got the other prisoners
involved gardening and eating bertter!
In six months, he was kicked out of prison!
Maybe someone did not like what he was doing in there.
Robert told me that they wanted to innoculate his dad
with some vaccines. V.E. Irons led a pure life.
He told them that he did not want that because
he thought at some future point he might like to have children.
He felt, from his experience, that these vacinnations harmed
the capacity to bear kids. V.E. Irons was 70 at the time.
They laughed at him.
When he was 80 years old, V.E. Irons had his last child
from this second marriage.
She was 37. Robert was born in that marriage.
His dad died in the 90's, I believe. His mom is somewhere
in her 60's.
Robert Irons is now getting more and more involved in his dad's business.
Like many of us, he was drawn to the Dr. Bernard Jensen Centennial Celebration
to connect with our Jensen Family.
This was a prIceless gathering that will Revise the future of Natural Health Care.

As far as being arrested for tauting health,
we have come a long way Baby!
However, local organic farmers are not well supported
by our government agencies.
It is not recognized that earth based Homeland Security
is no stronger than are connections with food and our food growers.
We do not recognize that a our Greatest Natural Resource is
a Fully Alive Person. This asks the Finest foods possible.
Gratefully, we live in America where the individual
can still make a difference through how we choose to spend our
food dollar.
I highly recommend you join with your neighbors and
buy a locally grown organic beet from a farmer at the Farmers' Market.

so kind to me over the years.
