I am writing on my Baby Mac G4.
I can see the grime on my desk.
I have energy to clean it.
I have come out of Winter,
a very difficult Winter.
I am Looking Ahead
to other encounters between
my Life and Life.
There are numbers of calls on the answering machine.
I do not care to answer them right now.
There is much to process.
There is much I have seen
through the Healing balm of participating
in The Natural Product Expo West (NPEW).
This was one of the most difficult expos
in all my years. I wasn't sure I was physically up to going.
My focus was on Kidney Stone Recovery for ten days or more.
I had a wake up call the Saturday before the NPEW.
I had been juice dieting on apple juice pasteurized, fresh apple juice
raw, and various greens.
My major commitment was Friday night.
I wasn't sure that going up Wednesday was Good Medicine.
What was I going to eat????
I had been eating about four days,
mainly grains, and a good portions of Joe the Farmer's
steamed chard.
The Saturday before the Expo,
I attempted to burn on my Life Energy.
It felt like raising the dead.
By the end of the afternoon,
I was famished and exhausted.
I went for my standby some heavy protein.
I chose a can of 365 Salmon from Whole Foods Market.
There much have been something in it
or something in me that did not agree.
I woke up the next morning, Farmers' Market Day
with a headache. I was feeling sickly all day.
I was feeling low back pain, a Red Light,
that my Kidneys were not liking the food.
What was I going to eat at NPEW????
NPEW is Foodie Heaven.
It is one of the Nation's largest
and Premier Natural Product Shows.
Walking from one end to the other
and up and down the rows
might clock five miles and six months
if a person wanted to stop and chat
with all the people and products of interest.
The Halls basically open Friday morning,
but Thursday is one of the most interesting days.
On Thursday, there is a Big White Tent next
to the Marriot in their parking lot that is big enough
for a small circus. We fill it with about 300 or more
of Fresh organic Farm goods and distributors.
The Fresh Ideas tent is one of the highlights of the
entire show. Many Exhibitors basically come just
for the day. Others move from Thursday into the Main Halls.
Each Exhibitor is basically giving away a sample,
to eat, drink, or smell. Some are offering up ideas,
such as the Organic Center or Farm Aid.
Can you imagine the Food Indigestion that is possible here?
While the Fresh Ideas Tent is going on from noon to 5:30 PM,
there is a range of other events as well,
including the Premier Meet and Greet Network Lunch
sponsored by the Organic Farm Research group.
[I will get their official title later....]
This is Bob Scowcroft's group. It is one of the first
opportunities to spend time with the leaders of the
Movement.
In former years, Thursday night for me was all about
getting read for the Organic Trade Association Fundraiser,
but this year it was being moved to Friday eve before
the Organic Center Fundraiser.
The Organic gtrade Associations main show is in May in Chicago.
It is called All Things Organic. I have never been there.
This year, they are having their annual dinner there.
They use photographers supplied by the Conference
Center there I believe.
