From "Care Packages of Raw Milk" to "Empowering the Raw Milk Movement"
Raw milk and cultured products as my medicine. Getting the raw milk message out to the public.
Date: 1/25/2008 3:43:18 AM ( 16 y ) ... viewed 1854 times What a blessing it has been for me to be given whole raw milk that has been produced at a couple local sources! Two days ago one of my beloved farmer gals came over with a care package that included a whole half gallon of their cow's holy food! I started making kefir with that (and expect it will be fully ripened tomorrow)! Then today came a two half-gallon gift from my Biodynamic friends (one of whom has traveled this week) from another and our newest local milk source! I started making raw yogurt with the first half gallon and will probably use the second to continue making kefir.
All the people involved here know that I was recently out of the hospital after having my appendix removed. The cultured milk products I am enjoying are part of my food-as-medicine program. I am in the process of completely rebuilding my inner "compost pile" after having been on a hospital induced IV "fast" of morphine and antibiotics, etc. My food of choice is quickly turning things around! Kefir alone has got to be given a lot of credit! Mark McAfee has referred to it (in "The Raw Milk Controversy: Fact & Fiction") as the biblical manna. I may have to do some research on that!
I would love to meet lovers of raw milk who want to support the grass-roots raw milk movement with educational products like: "The Raw Milk Controversy: Fact & Fiction".
In California there are possibly 30,000 retail customers of raw milk. I believe that most of them can tell their other "milk" drinking friends about the virtues of raw milk. "The Raw Milk Controversy: Fact & Fiction" DVD can make that sharing with friends a really enjoyable experience. Especially when they include a glass of real milk and or a cultured milk product that they have made (like a kefir smoothie as Mark described that even kids love!). How do we get these DVDs into most of the hands of these "30,000" customers? When I look at a map of California I can easily see at least nine major geographic areas covering all of California that I think could be headed up by distributors. Each of these distributors could develop whatever distribution they want for their area.
Dr. Dale Jacobson (who interviewed Mark in "The Raw Milk Controversy: Fact & Fiction") asked me if I could upload more video clips at the Internet video sites. Today I asked his wife to order the software "ripper" program in order to do that. This will give people more of a preview on the contents of the DVD.
As of tomorrow I will be looking to getting feedback from a business friend who is considering carrying the DVD. I need objective assessments on the market demand of this product. There is a question in my mind about the fact that we have two talking heads with no additional visuals to help keep the viewers interested. It may be that this DVD would actually work better as an audio only product. That needs to be determined!
I can't help but to imagine fully illustrating, animating and "B-rolling" all the references made on the DVD. That would be a major recreation project and might have to be funded by a "Daddy Warbucks" or possibly taken up as a school project by a film student working in something like documentary productions. If I were within range of a film department I could consider doing that. (Maybe I'll look into it just to see where the options are.) I could also look into what computer and software would be required for that project and then think in the direction of getting that! That may be more feasible for me then relocating near a campus.
