SCRAP IT! But keeping the journal or my journey.
Scrapping Fast so I can see what new supplement can do for my persistent UTI.
Date: 11/6/2007 12:15:36 PM ( 17 y ) ... viewed 2130 times Before Fasting/Restricted Diet: 190lbs I will be giving my weight every Tuesday. WHY Am I fasting? Spiritual: Revive that grounded feeling: everything is inspired (from God within)! Health: Improve lymph drainage under my right armpit. May get a lymphatic massage. Weight: Lose weight and cellulite. Tone and improve skin elasticity. Sauna at GYM. Energy: More energy to enjoy the season, life! Start renovations again. Look good in coats! HOW Am I fasting? Most important is to gradually find what works getting me into a water fast and then seeing how far I can go. All depending on how I feel and look.
HOW Long Am I fasting? START: November 6th. Six weeks of fasting/strict dieting, starting on a Tuesday.
STOP: December 18th Six weeks, starting on a Tuesday. Day 1 W/up 3:30a. Put a whole bag (12oz) of frozen cranberries into blender. Drank half. W/up 7:30a. Can feel the UTI. Burning sensation up in front of uterus, getting worse as time goes on. 3 hrs later: 1 L-Arginine/L-Ornithine 500/250. UTI disappeared very soon afterwards! 12:p. Lunch In retrospect, seeing as how the supplement caused the UTI symptoms to disappear, I have decided to hold off from the fasting, and instead keep to a less restricted diet incorporating wholesome foods, minus sugars/refined and processed foods
This is also important since the first time I took CIPRO for my UTI (10 days), my chiropractor was concerned about the sudden appearance of “scar tissue” along my spine when he was trying to adjust me. The same thing had happened the week before when he was away from office and his partner had to adjust me. Before I started with the medicine there was never an issue, and when I finished taking the antibiotic everything went back to normal. Please note: at that time I had just begun my fast the week before, and from what I understand, medication while you are fasting can have a different effect on you. I will continue to update according to how often I am taking the supplement and the speed of any reoccurances. Again, what I would like is to fast without this UTI, as the MC fast has sugars in it and goes against my UTI which quickly and easily can give me a yeast infection. I need the MC fast to fall back on just in case I can’t make it through my 2 week water fast. Start each day with a 500/250 L-Arginine/L-Ornithine supplement. Though I’ve used to calm myself, especially for insomnia, It also may help with my persistent UTI.
L-Arginine has been shown to help raise nitric oxide levels, which may increase blood circulation. L-Ornithine is a central part of the urea cycle, which can produce L-Arginine and allows for the removal of excess ammonia from the body. These complimentary amino acids are important for healthy metabolic function, assisting in wound healing, helping remove excess ammonia from the body, stimulating immune function, and promoting secretion of several hormones, including glucagons, insulin, and growth hormone and necessary to increase protein synthesis, which can in turn increase cellular replication. Arginine is also a precursor to nitric oxide, which the body uses to keep blood vessels dilated, allowing the heart to receive adequate oxygen. Nitric oxide metabolism is also altered in people with interstitial cystitis, a condition of the bladder. Preliminary research found that supplementation with 1.5 grams of arginine per day for six months led to a significant decrease in most symptoms, including pain, also appears to act as a natural blood thinner by reducing platelet aggregation. Nuts and chocolate also contain significant amounts of this amino acid. While some people with serious infections, burns, or other trauma should take arginine, appropriate amounts must be determined by a doctor. Levels used in research vary considerably (2–30 grams per day). Some doctors are concerned that increases in growth hormone triggered by arginine could overwork the pancreas. Arginine works with ornithine in the synthesis of growth hormone.
