The Web of Life   18 y
As the fog lifts, we see it clearly....no more forgetting....

The Web of Life There is a living web that runs through us To all the universe Linking us each with each and through all life On to the distant stars. Each knows their little corner of the world, and lives As if this were all. We no more see the farther reaches of the threads Than we see of the future, yet they’re there. Touch but one thread, no matter which; The thoughtful eye may trace to distant lands Its firm continuing strand, yet lose its filaments as they reach out, But find at last it coming back to the one from whom it led. We move as in a fog, aware of self Bu ...   read more

Chant and Be Happy!!   18 y
Chanting not only relaxes and brings one into a centered, meditative state, but research has shown it's many benefits....but they've known that for "zillions of years" haven't they?

I have been chanting on a regular basis and finding it quite beneficial for my journey within and for my clearing process. I am not Hindu, but I prefer to use Krishna Das’ CD’s for my practice. I especially recommend ”All One” because the entire CD is Hare Krisha, in different forms, tempos and melodies. This process takes me approximately one hour, so the only challenge is that I need to get up earlier, because it disturbs other people in this Christian home when they hear me belting out Hare Krishna for an hour or so....LOL!!!!! Here are some articles regarding t ...   read more

LBS Syndrome: Are you "normal?!!!"   18 y
Late Bloomer Syndrome....do you suffer from it? A new diagnosis for those who do not fit into the box.....

Make *Light* of it All SpiritPlay Update: Late Bloomer Syndrome A beautiful female colleague of mine is getting married for the first time at 51. A friend of mine in his late 40’s just found a line of work that truly suits him. A brilliant 46-year-old acquaintance recently adopted a baby. Do these ages seem a little ”late in life” to you? It appears these days that people are taking longer to ”get it together.” If someone had told me in my twenties that I would be single and childless at 36, I would have said, ”No way.” More and more frequently I meet adults who have insight, vital ...   read more

Rays of Life **The Sun**   18 y
Having just returned from the blessing of basking in the sun in the Caribbean, I just received this timely message for me....Enjoy the sun-centered ritual...

Rays Of Life The Sun (from the Daily Om) Since the dawn of time, humans have been fascinated by the sun. Radiating power from the sky, our star Sol is a creative force that is unparalleled. Its brilliant rays illuminate the seasons, give heat, imbue all living beings with vital life force energy, and banish the dangers that only come out in the dark. Sol is a sparkling though mysterious jewel and has been given many names by many cultures: Arinna in Mesopotamia, Yhi in Australia, Ra in Egypt, and Apollo in Greece. Our lives are, to a large extent, driven by the brilliant illumi ...   read more

Practicing "No Fear"!!!!   18 y
A whale watching adventure turned into an opportunity to practice surrendering to what is......

Practicing “no fear”!!!!! I just returned from a trip to the Caribbean with my family.    It was great getting away, enjoying the warm climate and sun, and especially being on the ocean (we took a cruise)!! One of the excursions that the cruise ship offered was a whale watching adventure in the waters of the Dominican Republic.    We had gone whale watching previously in Mexico and it was fabulous.   We saw dozens of whales, all around our little boat.    The skipper said he had never seen so many as on that d ...   read more

The Blessing of Anam Cara   18 y
The top 7 strengths of a Soul friend....

Anam Cara is the Celtic expression of Soul friend.... I highly recommend John O’Donohue’s books on the topic. http://www.jodonohue.com/ In a chapter... ”The Mystery of Friendship” we find some amazing thoughts on friendship. He explains the concept of anam cara in detail as ”soul friend” or someone to whom we can confess our deepest intimacies. Here are a few quotes from that chapter: . . . ”the hand of the stranger is the hand of God.” . . . ”a friend is a loved one who awakens your life in order to free the wild possibilities within you.” . . . ” Love opens the door ...   read more

Soul Friends   18 y
Relationships, especially deep friendships, have always been most essential and helpful in my getting clear....I am most grateful..

Cultivating Friendships Friendship is not essentially a union of personalities, it is an attraction and magnetism of souls. Friendships often begin in a soulful way through the workings of fate. We might ”just happen” to meet a person and find even the slimmest basis for a relationship. Over the years, each of us encounters many, many people, and yet only a few become friends, and over a lifetime maybe only a very few become truly intimate friends -- soulmates. The fact that it’s impossible to explain just what makes someone a great friend, or that we can’t go out and apply a ...   read more

5 Simple Steps to Spiritual Growth   19 y
These 5 steps are a metaphor for progress along our journeys....simple but not easy....

Maybe the “Autobiography in Five Chapters” from The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying can shed some light on spiritual growth....on getting clear, attaining awareness..... Personally, I thought I was on step 5 with an issue with my daughter, but fell back to step 3 once again!! *sigh* 1) I walk down the street There is a deep hole in the sidewalk I fall in. I am lost…I am hopeless. It isn’t my fault. It takes forever to find a way out. 2) I walk down the same street. There is a deep hole in the sidewalk I pretend I don’t see it. I fall in again. I can’t believe I’m in t ...   read more

Quotes on Awareness.....   19 y
Ponderings on awareness and self-awareness......

“Let us not look back in anger, nor forward in fear, but around in awareness.” ~James Thurber No one should ever feel bad if Self-Observation reveals that he or she is presently on a lower level. On the contrary, we should be glad, for only this discovery makes upliftment possible. It is the foolish person who imagines he has nothing to learn. Also, remember, the Mystic Path has no moral judgments. There are no such things as good and bad, superior or inferior. We don’t consider a five-year old child inferior to a child often. We simply realize that everyone is on a different leve ...   read more

Quotes on Clarity...   19 y
Ponderings from some great thinkers on the topic of utmost importance....

“Clarity of mind means clarity of passion, too; this is why a great and clear mind loves ardently and sees distinctly what he loves.” ~Blaise Pascal “When the defects of others are perceived with so much clarity, it is because one possesses them oneself” ~Jules Renard “More important than the quest for certainty is the quest for clarity” ~Francois Gautier “Everyone sees the unseen in proportion to the clarity of his heart, and that depends upon how much he has polished it. Whoever has polished it more sees more - more unseen forms become manifest to him.” ~Rumi “T ...   read more

Emotions and the Key to Emotional Clarity   19 y
Constructive expression is the key to emotional clarity. Constructive means expressing feelings in a way that does not harm the person they are expressed to. For example, saying "I am angry", or "I am frustrated" to someone is different than acting out the anger or frustration. Finding the method of constructive expression that fits our unique characteristics is part of the path to awakening. It may be an art form, or a particular practice, like yoga.

Emotions: Emotions and the key to emotional clarity. By James Westly What is the driving force in human existence? What moves us? Why do we get out of bed in the morning? What comes to mind in answer to these questions are phrases like: ”I’ll be late to work and lose my job,” or, ”It’s a glorious morning, I feel glad to be alive.” These are feelings, emotions. The first is fear, the second is love. They are simple examples of mundane events, perhaps, but also windows into a major motivating factor in the lives of us all. What simple or profound action or event can you think of ...   read more

The Dawning of the Age of Activists   19 y
How healed can we ultimately become while the social systems in which we live and move, and have our earthly being, remain sick?

The dawning of the Age of Activists Washington Post By Hanna Rosin The swami says to his lady: ”Are we lost?” And while he’s speaking in terms of the campus map, it’s tempting to take his question metaphysically. What on Buddha’s earth is any enlightened soul doing in Washington, this wasteland of ”negaholics,” where left-brain bickers with Logos and no one ever evolves? And yet, it seems inevitable that the New Age spiritual questers would eventually feel their way here. After 20 years of crystal gazing and mood therapy and slurping on chicken soup, the inner child grows bored and ...   read more

New Agers...the way I see them...   19 y
Do New Agers walk their talk? Here's how I see it!

New agers…..the way I see them….. I have worked very hard this year to shed the many belief systems that I have held. One of most difficult and ingrained has been my Catholic Christian background. I have truly come to the conclusion and knowing that religion = slavery. ALL religion! This past year, I have also had some new insights as to the problems with the new age movement. Seems that it is just another religion of sorts, packed with dogma just like all the others. Funny thing is….many would refer to me as a new ager, probably because I am an energy bodyworker and ma ...   read more

Toward an Activist Spirituality   19 y
Integrating the spiritual and the political....we need to shake things up and disrupt the status quo...

Toward an Activist Spirituality by Starhawk October 2003 No sane person with a life really wants to be a political activist. When activism is exciting, it tends to involve the risk of bodily harm or incarceration, and when it’s safe, it is often tedious, dry, and boring. Activism tends to put one into contact with extremely unpleasant people, whether they are media interviewers, riot cops, or at times, your fellow activists. Not only that, it generates enormous feelings of frustration and rage, makes your throat sore from shouting, and hurts your feet. Nonetheless, at this moment in ...   read more
