Was: "Calender Shows Gatherings Till June 19, 2038 at La Milpa Organica!" Farm Is Now Closed! 15 y
San Diego Loves the La Milpa Potlucks!
Please pray for this small farm!
Now grieve the loss of this farm!
Discovered http://www.aliceqfoodie.blogspot.com/
from my visit at http:
//thelinkery.com/blog/grass-farming-in-wynola/
and in the ”San Diego Culinary Events” I was happy to see advance dates for ”Potluck/Movie at La Milpa Organica”. How exciting to then find dates running until Saturday, June 19, 2038! I imagine this may be a ”glitch” in Google calendar program.
In any case the idea of returning to La Milpa for our monthly potlucks as of Saturday, February 20, 2010 is a pleasant thought!
Update Three months later:
The Saturday, February 20, 2010 gathering today was canceled, ... read more

Joel Salatin advocates a better way to raise food.
”Farmer/lecturer Joel Salatin champions ’moral farming’ as a better way to raise food. ’What is a moral way to raise a chicken?’ he asks.”

The next time you see an opportunity to attend a presentation by Joel Salatin take it! If (according to Jo Robinson, founder of eatwild.com,) he ”takes people who have never been farmers and inspires them to become farmers” then I give my highest recommendation to hear Joel!
How animals are treated is a consideration in food quality which ... read more
Anthroposophical Nutrition-Search For It's Nutritional Basis 15 y
An answer regarding the "nutrition base" in Anthroposophical nutrition, "One who understands nutrition correctly understands the beginning of healing", the essential element of a foodstuff is its formative forces.
The following is an inquiry on this subject and the answer I received from an ”expert” who works from an Anthroposophical perspective.
I am seeking certain foundational understanding on nutrition from individuals who have an Anthroposophical perspective.
At: http://www.anthromedia.com/articles/agriculture/nutrition/
is the phrase ”anthroposophical extended nutrition”. Rather than speculate about what this means I decided I would ask others. Nevertheless I do have a beginner’s perspective on this and to begin with I see two parts in this phrase that consist of ”nutrition” and ... read more

Letter to Mike Adams, the "Health Ranger" regarding the dangers of non-fermented soy products
October 1, 2019 - The Ploy of Soy - By Sally Fallon And Mary G. Enig, PHD -
Commercial milk products[13] have been linked to a number of disease conditions including allergies, asthma, arthritis, diabetes, auto immune diseases, childhood anemia, heart disease and cancer. Many have turned to soy products as substitutes for dairy products.
A popular booklet describes soy foods as ” . . . uniformly high in protein but low in calories, carbohydrates and fats, entirely devoid of cholesterol, high in vitamins, easy to digest, tasty and wonderfully versatile in the kitchen, [which] position ... read more

From Joel Salatin’s foreword to The Raw Milk Revolution: Behind America’s Emerging Battle Over Food Rights by David Gumpert.
”Is Not Freedom To Choose Our Food At Least As Fundamental A Right As The Freedom To Worship?”
Joel says: ”I drink raw milk (sold illegally on the underground market)”
This can appear to be mostly about ”raw milk” however, Joel makes it clear that our heritage of freedom that made America truly great is being turned into a pumpkin fit for smashing.

Counting Calories? 15 y
Chef Jem rejects a question and offers a highly informative explanation.
A inquirer asks:
”I am approx 180 cm Tall and weigh 116 KG. How Much Calories should I eat to lose 2 lbs per day. ...”
I rejected this question with the following explanation:
Apparently you want to lose some weight and apparently you want to include calorie restriction in addition to exercise. You are asking me about the calorie-to-weight relationship. If that’s all you are looking for then I think you may want to direct your question to someone who would just love to calculate that for you. I have absolutely no interest doing that for you!
My intention is to offer information, ... read more
The Biological Intelligence of Cold and "Flu Viruses" 15 y
Another perspective on the idea that people "catch" colds, the flu, etc. and the need to allow the body to cleanse itself as it needs to.
August 4, 2020 - The ”Spanish Flu” -
”The Spanish flu pandemic in 1918 ... actually began in the United States, at the Naval Radio School of Cambridge, Massachusetts, with 400 initial cases. This epidemic rapidly spread to 1,127 soldiers at Funston Camp (Kansas), where wireless connections had been installed. What intrigued the doctors was that while 15% of the civilian population were suffering from nosebleeds, 40% of the Navy suffered from them. Other bleeding also occurred, and a third of those who died did so due to internal hemorrhaging of the lungs or brain. In fact, it was the co ... read more
Small Steps - "The Journey of a Thousand Miles Begins With a Single Step" Lao Tzu 15 y
An introduction to Chef Jem's journey of "a thousand miles" from processed to whole foods.
Lifestyle transitions can be daunting! Especially when it’s your lifestyle! And all the more daunting when it involves the foods you have been familiar with your whole life! For some of us those familiar foods can be like best friends! We may have grown up depending on them to always ”be there” for us! Making the transition from a predominantly processed food lifestyle to one of properly prepared whole foods can be asking a lot of many Americans. However, I sincerely believe that it doesn’t have to happen all at once. When I look at my own journey of what I now may liken unto one of at le ... read more

The Lies of the Seed Oil Industry
”Margarine, mayonnaise, cooking oil, salad dressings, and anything made with corn oil, soy oil, safflower oil, canola oil, peanut oil, or any of the rest of the vegetable oils (except olive, coconut oil, or palm oil) will accelerate the aging process in general, create catabolic damage throughout the body, and will specifically cause the oxidative damage in the blood vessel walls and in the heart that precipitates a cardiovascular crisis.”

Simply place the bones in the Instant Pot, cover the bones with pure, filtered water, add salt and other spices to taste, then set it to cook on high for two hours if the bones are CAFO, and four hours if organic and grass fed.
Organic grass fed beef bones are the best. Using bones from CAFO (concentrated animal feeding operation) beef can be problematic due to potential heavy metal contamination. ... read more

1.) Chef Jemichel, you have a background working as a mainstream chef including working for the Conrad Hilton Hotel and at Northwestern University. Although you’ve always loved working with food you lost interest in this kind of cheffing and became a nutritional therapist. Why?
While I was at the Hilton in 1977 it happened to become quite a center of gold-medal culinary art accomplishment complete with all the finest sculptures of chocolate, butter and ice! However another whole new world was trickling into my awareness t ... read more

Dr. Hamer: ”All so-called diseases have a special biological meaning.
