Evidence seen backing ancient Mars ocean shoreline
By Will Dunham
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Long, undulating features on the northern plains of Mars probably are remnants of shorelines of an ocean that covered a third of the planet’s surface at least 2 billion years ago, scientists said on Wednesday.
The geological features, stretching thousands of miles (kilometers), were first revealed in the 1980s in Viking spacecraft images. But topographical data collected by NASA’s Mars Global Surveyor in the 1990s cast doubt on whether the features truly marked a long-gone sea coast.
The Global Surveyor found big, mountain-sized variations ... read more

An Ankle Device Lets One Man Make The World — And Big Brother — His Witness
Hasan Elahi, a Bangledesh-born American art professor,
wears a device that lets the world track his every move.
You can accuse me of being a terror suspect,
but I can prove to you that I’m not."
The reason almost anyone can find Hasan Elahi isn’t because of his bleached hair or florescent green shoes. It’s because of a small device on his ankle.
It behaves frighteningly like an tracking ankle bracelet.
Every time he moves, he takes a picture and a GPS pinpoints his location. Then it’s all posted on his Web site, CBS News correspondent Sharyn ... read more

Diesel Exhaust Impairs Blood Flow to Marrow 17 y
Elderly most affected by exposure to the pollutant, researchers say
HealthDay
By Robert Preidt
Diesel exhaust particles contain a chemical component called phenanthraquinone (PQ) that can harm the ability of arteries to regulate blood flow to bone marrow, a U.S. study finds.
That can have a number of long-term health effects, the researchers add.
Men, postmenopausal women, and elderly people are most likely to be affected, said a team at the Center for Interdisciplinary Research in Cardiovascular Sciences at the West Virginia University School of Medicine, in Morgantown.
The researchers conducted tests with rats. They found t ... read more

One bank asks customers to go bare-headed as cops try to snare Hat Bandit
Tuesday, June 12, 2007
By Bll Swayze
If you want to make a transaction at Hudson City Savings Bank in Florham Park, you better take off your hat.
That’s what the two signs on the bank’s front door state in black letters. ”Please remove all head coverings, caps, hats and hoods.”
Florham Park police say that’s the new rule they hope will trip up the Hat Bandit -- the notorious bank robber also known as the Mad Hatter -- who has hit at least 16 banks in northern New Jersey since September. A hat for every heist, the bandit with bright white teeth and Paul-Newman-blue eyes h ... read more

Dannielynn and Dad on Larry King
I was watching the Larry King Show as usual and Larry Birkhead was on and I never realized what a sweet man he is. I had only caught bits and pieces of media before, never really paid attention. But, he looks like a very good dad and sincere human being. I think Dannielynn is very lucky. I mean it is so unfortunate about her mom and brother, so sad and a waste, but I think with Birkhead she stands a chance of growing up to be fairly normal and a good person.

Man Posing As Flower Delivery Man Kills Woman
Every day the world seems to get more brutal. It is scary to even walk to the store in my opinion. Is it just me or is violent crime going up more than ever. Give me the 1970s. Sure we had Kent State and Watergate and Viet Nam, but it sure did seem like much gentler times. We didn’t lock our doors and kids played outside until dark. Sure we had child molestation and we didn’t talk about it much, but it seems we have more now and well, has society really gotten any better by us talking about it and bringing everything out in the open that used to be only ... read more

Is her sentence too harsh?
I have watched all the news programs. It seems many say Paris Hilton is being made an example of and that no one else would have had a 45 day sentence. I also heard when she yelled, "This isn’t fair!", it was in reference to not being allowed to hug her mother. Personally, I think house arrest would have been sufficient. Jail is no place for a young woman when there are more severe criminals out there. I know she is rich, but if she is stuck up, it is her parents fault. She told her lawyers not to appeal her sentence, that she would try to serv ... read more

The woman put $15 worth in the other vehicle’s tank before her debit card reached its limit.
