Multi-Drug Resistant Dientamoeba Fragilis and Blasto Hominis Infection - Cure Information.

Over one year of suffering 2011-2012.

I am providing this information to help other sufferers of these parasites and to let them know just how hard they can be to get rid of.

The parasites can mess up one's enteric (gut) nervous system, and suppress stomach acid secretion, such that even if you are cured, you may end up with post-infective irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and food malabsorbtion issues.

I am in this category. Based on scientific research, after 8 years, 50% of people will recover from the post-infective IBS, and 50% will have it for the rest of their life. I hope I will not be in the second category.

My general symptoms of parasitical infection were:

Abdominal pain/cramping, persistent diarrhoea, fatigue and weakness, weight loss, loss of appetite, explosive and frequent belching, shaky hands and bloodshot eyes. Occasional nausea.

My theory as to why previous oral multi-antibiotic treatments failed, in my case, is that D. fragilis can lodge in the intestinal mucosa, so antibiotics in the blood stream did not penetrate the mucosa and therefore were rendered ineffective.

Note: A normal stool test will not reveal your parasites unless you are very lucky. You need a proper 3-day parasitology stool test from a reputable pathology lab such as Histopath in Sydney. You can post samples, and they will bulk bill. Until I found this out I was paying around $130 per test from Healthscope Functional Pathology.

Overall, the parasite infection probably cost me over $5,000. There is no quick fix. You need to stick to your guns and not give up. There is hope. The Centre for Digestive Diseases (CDD) in Sydney is at the forefront of this research.
