By AHarleyGyrl I want to be complacent (content),
I mean everyone keeps telling me just accept God does what he does, prayers
work, everything is ok, don't try to understand it it will just stress you. To me that means complacency. Ok, but when I watch a news story of a family getting murdered, I am not a big God
fan or Earth fan or people fan. We are supposed to think this beautiful Earth
is here for us to enjoy and God died so we could live, etc.... The reality is
the rich have all the money and they have polluted the food and water and air
most likely beyond reversal. If you talk about these things, questioning if
there really is this loving God who created such a great place, people say don't
worry about it, just get saved so you can go to heaven because it is better
there. I am told people of different religions cannot get in to heaven unless
they are saved by Jesus, a God not recognized by most of the world. So, what is
the point of earth and life if many suffer and a few can get to a better place
whether they suffered of not?It sometimes seems like an experiment, but then you hear, no, he knows everything that ever happened and everything that will ever happen. So, I think why would if be an experiment to see what humans would do, if he already knows the outcome? But, that brings up another question, why even have life and live on the Earth in the f1rst place when the end will be filled with destruction like it says in the Bible? What is the point? Keep in mind that some people die young, some as kids and some at birth. Some say God has no control over that. Some say it is God's will. Which is it? I am leaning toward that we do not have the capability to know. I know many will say the bible is just truth. It is the word of God (eventhough it was written by man and many parts are missing). They say not to question it. But, why were we made with cognitive skills to be able to question if we are not to use them when it comes to the bible or God? My Sociology Professor pointed that out when he was talking about contradictions in the Bible. And, why does most of the earth follow different Gods than Christians do? Doesn't it seem a little odd to you that the earth was created, people were created, people did bad suff (ate apples or whatever), someone was sent to die because we were bad, then we get to do whatever the heck we want (free will) until someone comes back to take us to a place where we live forever (and I guess we can eat all the apples we want, don't know) after the total destruction of the planet (floods, earthquakes and fires and all that stuff)? Which of the following is right?
The factors are:
1. Ok, everything
happens for a reason and people have to die and be murdered and good always
comes out of it because it was supposed to happen.
2. No one has control
over death, it is all free will and everything just happens, wrong time wrong
place type thing, sorry about your luck if you were tortured and murdered and
all that.
3. God needs all these
people in heaven so he has them die. yeah, this theory would be great maybe if
it could explain the suffering. Some just die and some are brutalized.
Still, I have heard no one gets into heaven until jesus returns to the earth.
4. Humans don't have the
ability to know why we are here and why we die. so live with it.
5. Prayer works, but God
chooses who he heals
6. Prayer doesn't
work. I remember George Carlin saying he prays to Joe Pesci:
"I noticed that of all
the prayers I used to offer to God, and all the prayers that I now offer to Joe
Pesci, are being answered at about the same 50 percent rate. Half the time I get
what I want. Half the time I don't. Same as God 50-50. Same as the four leaf
clover, the horse shoe, the rabbit's foot, and the wishing well. Same as the
mojo man. Same as the voodoo lady who tells your fortune by squeezing the goat's
testicles. It's all the same; 50-50. So just pick your superstitions, sit back,
make a wish and enjoy yourself."
