Blog: 30 Days RAW
So I was getting bored. The problem was not cooking and the recipes I tried last weekend didn't work so well. I get tired of only salads...and I have to eat more greens. So I planned on taking a few liberal days - on for the Saturday pool party and one for the Friday birthday party lunch at a Japanese Grill. Well, the friday party moved to Monday but in the afternoon I was tempted with a treat and decided to still take Friday. In the evening, I went to my favorite health food store and had pesto pasta, a veggie pizza with some alternative for the crust which was reaaaaally good & currey veggies over brown rice & honey maple acorns. I had little portions of each so I could try a bunch of stuff for a filling meal. It was wonderful, really good to get a bunch of new tastes and the first to items were awesome. It was a really nice change. The funniest thing happened. I know some people say when you touch cooked after going raw it triggers addictions (and junk food or bread WILL do that to me) but after being satisfied and finishing, I kinda wish I DIDN'T have "normal food" plans this week. I decided instead of making my decadent sweet potato casserole for the potluck pool party, that I would make the Watermelon Soup (Alissa Cohen's recipe), a double batch, and maybe I would only have that, or more probably have a small taste of the other stuff, but eat kinda lite and fill up on Watermelon Soup. I have so many WONDERFUL fruits in my fridge and my honeydew melon is ripe now and I have green smoothies I want to try. I LIKE RAW. And I want to do the lunch on Monday but that's THREE days for cooked and I find that with some more variety (which when I was lazy meant I went to cooked), it's all good.
I don't think it will be hard for me to jump back on as people may say and I think it will be easier for me to live this as a lifestyle (maybe 80-90% or something). The addictions don't haunt me the way they used to and it's actually easier. I think in the end, especially when my husband gets back, I will be a Flexitarian. This lovely word I just picked up (which you may know) but I will lean towards the vegetarian lifestyle (RAW Vegan to be more specific) but I will be flexible. And I'm ok with that. I think with experiences like today, if cooked and occasional junk food is all I have, it will not be difficult for me to handle my diet. If this turns out, in fact, to be how it ends up, GOD BLESS RAW! It's so great to know more days of moderation and less days of craving neediness preoccupation. *yay*
I wonder how my husband will react when he comes back to find me taking cayenne pepper shots in the morning!

Good for you! I've been allowing myself to be a little more flexible(eating a little wild rice with dinner)on my raw diet and I definitely feel much better. I don't feel like I need to be so strict and not allow myself what I would really like anymore. I also don't have those deprived feelings that used to creep up on me when I ate 100%. I love raw with a little bit of flexibility. I feel more free and less tightly wound on my 70% to 95% raw diet. Yeah!!

I bought a box of Silk very Vanilla at Walmart today. I just don't have the funds to make nutmilk every day (almonds are $7/lb). I like the Hallelujah Diet version of 85% raw. Excellent post!

Thanks, I've heard a couple references to the Halleluyah diet so far. Maybe I'll look it up and learn more about it. From the name, I get the impression it may follow Daniel's diet or God's basic diet - what comes from nature with not too much processing...thanks for sharing! :-)
