Blog: 30 Days RAW
Although I never considered giving up, I noticed that the great beginnings I was feeling on Day 5 did not continue. I did not feel great or bad - just normal. I noticed that I wasn't eliminating as much as I was which I was doing that a lot last week, and I've decided that's a result of more regular wheatgrass intake last week. I guess I was hoping that it was also in part due to my natural improved digestion but I guess my body has a lot more work to do on that count. I thought fruits were supposed to make you "go" and being on all raw would also facilitate that.
Other considerations; I did have a good bit of nuts and breads, one day I had a TON of nuts and I had grains (only sprouted) this week in the evenings. I've been gravitating mostly to fruit b/c being out so much, I wanted to avoid eating public salad dressing for fear they are not all raw or have processed sugar in them. So I ate more fruit then veggies but I think this may be a mistake. So today I brought a homemade salad dressing and I also upped my wheatgrass. I'm going to try hard not to skip a day. (I buy mine at the health or juice store.) Yesterday I did wheat grass and could feel that I was constipated - stuff wanted to happen but didn't yet. Today very shortly after my wheatgrass shot, stuff happened. I was so surprised when I looked down - I let out something the size of a small animal! And I thought I wasn't doing much!!! GAH! I'm surprised I didn't jump, lol. Ok, so that was probably ALL of yesterday's food. I need to keep up with the stuff because until my body's digestion heals, I need help and when I was taking it I was starting to feel the effects that I've read about on RAW. When I was a teenager, I didn't know I was unhealthy but I went less then once a week. WOW! I just didn't know. So this summer I'm making changes but I haven't been optimally healthy for many years to I'll keep up with wheatgrass shots religiously for a while - probably my whole 30+ days before vacation and I think that will help.
Other things: I want to see the instant results like everyone else and I keep checking my skin. I think it's getting better but it's a bit slow and remind myself to be patient, that it's only day 11. It doesn't seem to hard, I certainly love the food! About overeating, I still seem to do that. My body has been telling me lately that it doesn't WANT as much food as I'm eating, and the wierd thing is that I'm not eating that much! I want to have breakfast lunch and dinner and my body says maybe snack around lunch, then a meal at 4:00. From what my brain is used to, I'm eating way lighter yet my body tells me I'm still overdoing it and my taste buds say for God's sake, don't eat less! LOL It's new stuff that I'm getting used to. Perhaps my body also wanted less because I was constipated and I do feel better after the wheatgrass so we'll see how things go as I continue to whittle my habits down to be more in line with what my body asks me.
There are very encouraging things. Yesterday I did even better with not snacking and even though I've been trying, snacking still hits me at night. Last night I did eat a big dinner with a kiwi as dessert but I did not eat anything else afterwards and that meant nothing after 8:00. This is good progress, I need to keep that up and eating veggies may be a big part of it because after all fruit, veggies help me feel more satisfied. So progress is happening, even if there hasn't been additional weight loss or immaculate skin yet (I don't think, staying away from the scale now). The plan: continue wheatgrass shots, by lemonade for MC lemonade to get some cayenne in my diet. Continue 100% RAW.
I'm really glad I'm getting healthier and I'm really wanting the energy from Friday back and most importantly: the need for less sleep. Working 11 hour days and having lots of homework means that if I get back to only needing 5-6 hours sleep, I could fit in workouts during the week or more homework. One benefit I'm already experiencing is this: although my sleep is back up, my time awake is more alert, less worn out in spite of my long days and the alertness means I'm more motivated and am getting more things done. I want more of that! :-)

Don't let anyone BS you. Wait till you start the skin detox it will make you cry. It takes months to get your skin like that, but...it will happen it's guaranteed to happen! Maybe after a few days your skin feels nicer, but then the detox kicks in and even with epsom baths and all that, if you were ever prone to breakouts you'll get some nasty ones. Just make sure to wash w/ VERY mild soap as they are not zits, they are special detox "things" and also, diluted raw apple cider vinegar is wonderful on angry detox skin. If your skin isn't reacting to raw I think you're not cleansing yet, there is no way to avoid the skin problems especially if you went 100% raw right away.

You said: 'special detox "things"' ....teehee that sounds so funny
hmmm, I did go basically 100% RAW although I did do 23 days MC this summer (13 days and 10 days). They were my first. I didn't eat great before but I was never dramatically unhealthy, so maybe my detox isn't that obvious? I'd hate to think that I'm not making progress but maybe since I wasn't an extreme case of bad health, maybe my progress will be more subtle...I DO want to be healthy, and to lose that last 15 lbs.
