Blog: Master Cleanse for Mind and Body
My hubby was home sick last night. It was nice to have him about but he's a bit cranky when he's sick. Poor baby :( I'm glad your immune system is working overtime while fasting because I haven't caught it.
I worked on a volunteer project most of the evening (applying for IRS non-profit status for a friend's organization called Lost and Found Ministries). The last couple of times I went through the application form, it felt completely overwhelming. This time I chipped away at it and got quite a bit done. Hopefully I will finish it by this weekend. That will be a relief, to check it off my to-do list.
Enough rambling, how's my MC going? Well I continue to pass foul smelling sludge and my face is still broken out like a teenager. I don't think I drank enough water yesterday so I'm a little stiff today but overall I feel great.
I'm so looking forward to food. I watched the Food Network for over an hour yesterday (not a typical thing for me to do). I've been feeling so hungry for the last couple of days, not for anything in particular like a craving. I think my body is ready to go back to food. Only FIVE days to go!!! Yippee!
Getting closer,
Peanut

You silly thing, what are you doing watching the food channel??? HA, I guess if you can't eat, you can at least look at it! Anyway, I just wanted to tell you how proud of you I am! Good going! And since you are doing so well, I was hoping to get some advice from you. I've been on a juice fast (kind of ) and I think I am going to switch to the master cleanse, as my ulcer is better. I've done the master cleanse before, but was too scared to do the salt thing, plus I have lost my book. Can you tell me what I need to buy and also, how bad is it really??? I took psyllium husks in the capsule instead and it seemed to do ok, lost a lot of sludge in only 10 days. What do you suggest??? Thanks in advance for any help you can give me! Good luck and hang in there.

Here's a link to the book online: http://www.geocities.com/hotsprings/spa/7244/master_cleanse.html
You can use a lax tea in the morning and night to avoid the SWF. Try different brand because some are stronger than others, that way you can find one that works best for you (I like Dieter's Tea because it has tons of flavors - you can get it at the drug store in the diet section.
Also, did you know there are tons of varieties of sea salt and they all taste differently? Many people like celtic sea salt. I like a gray one. Anyway you don't have to do the SWF if you don't want to but I wouldn't suggest the psyllium husks because they soak up water. That wouldn't seem like a big deal on a liquid diet but actually lemon is a natural diuretic so you have to be careful about keeping in enough liquids.
The typical amount of water you need to drink is half your body weight in ounces each day. If you use the psyllium you should add a little to that. Many people struggle just to get the baseline water in so add that to you decision pros and cons.
My first couple of fasts were the hardest. In fact I only made it five days on my first one because my whole face broke out in a rash and I got scared (my doctor told me I must be allergic to maple syrup). Since you are already juice fasting, it should be pretty easy for you. You already have the tough stuff done (getting over any caffine, getting solid food out of system, etc.). Juice fasting is great for you too and a bit more mild so you have less detox symptoms. Let me know what you decide.
Truly,
Peanut

Thank you so much for the information. I really had already decided to do the MC again, in fact I went to the healthfood store earlier today. It is so hard for me to stand up and juice, because I have kind of a stinky juicer and it takes me forever to strain it. I have chronic fatigue and get tired very easily so I thought the MC might be easier.
I had no idea there were different kinds of laxative tea or sea salt. That makes me happy! The taste of the smooth move makes me want to throw up! Thanks so much again for the help and this advice. Isn't this website great??? And keep up the good work, you have done so well!!!
Thanks,
red

Have you ever considered a cheap electic citrus juicer. Walmart carries a Black and Decker on for about $15 that Zoebess recommends. I have a $30 one from Linens and Things that I love. I can prep and juice ten lemons/limes in less than three minutes (my kids like to time me).
As for the Smooth Move, I can't stand the original flavor. They have a chocolate flavored one that most people like. To me it's okay, very mild taste (tons better than the regular flavored one).
Good luck and keep in touch,
Peanut
