Don’t let the dark news about the environment get you down. I am not saying it isn’t all true, it true and more. But what I am saying is that I really believe that if we put our mind to it we can solve the seemingly daunting problems that currently overwhelm us when it comes to the environment.
So much genius potential is locked up inside of us just clamoring to burst out and make the most of our amazing gifts.
Yes! Genius potential! And we can solve these dilemmas and we can heal this planet and we can figure out how to make this whole thing work the way it was meant to. Believe that.
I just read this great little piece about these scientists who “taught” a little known flower how to eat up horribly toxic chemicals and detox contaminated soil. The yellow lupine, a flowering bush, has been altered into a chemical gobbler. Scientists have known for a long time about a certain bacteria that naturally eats up and breaks down toxins. The problem was getting that bacteria to stick around toxic sites. There is a another bacteria that naturally occurs in the yellow lupine. The chemical eating components of the first bacteria were inserted into the bacteria that naturally occurs in the yellow lupine, and voila! You have got a toxin eating bush that is very hearty and can be planted anywhere where certain toxins are currently polluting the land. And the thing is that the plants are beautiful looking! You see a beautiful sea of yellow blossoms, and yet those yellow blossoms are hard at work cleaning up mother earth. Wonderful!!! How can you go wrong?
The next step is to try the same thing with trees. This method could transform trees into detoxing powerhouses. Maybe we could use something like this to heal the soil in Iraq after all of the horrors of DU? Its possible.
This is what I call genius being put to the work of healing purposes and I love it!
Here is a short article on the subject.

Here is something a bit more in depth.

- our environment by ausjulie

your message on envioronment has got me thinking so much that even last nite while trying to get to sleep i was writing in my head what i wanted to say about it. firstly i think it is wonderful that some brilliant minds are working on fixing some of the issues. but my question is how do we teach all people to work on it. there is so much we can all do in our own homes, places of employmnet, schools everywhere that would help. three simple words reduce, reuse and recycle. i beleive we already possess the power to fix every problem in this world. we know what to do we just dont do it.

i dont know, i think it is a great quesiton though. how DO we teach others to value the environment and to take repairing it seriously?
personally i believe that we, as a human race, are in the middle of a radical reimagining of our value system. that we are being forced by our karma to drastically change what we consider important and unimportant. and this change is ahppening all around us, with many many poeple, even if it doesn't make it into the NY times.
we are coming to a time when we will look our own survival as a species in the face, eye to eye with self destruction, and when that happens we will change or die. but the change is already happening all around.
its the 100 monkeys syndrome, just continue to allow your consciusness to evolve and you will affect those around you without them even knowing it.

- Yes plants have been doing that for a long time.... by kerminator

If mankind would leave it to nature most of our environmental problems would disappear... Hummmm.... I learned that some years ago when I worked for the USGS, down in central FLA.... If you have not been keeping up on the Kissimmee River project; done by the Army Corps of Engineers, and the history of the Everglades National Park, then you have some catching up to do.... Let me know what you think of that mess.... We could also throw in the Floridian Aquifer, but I may just blog on that info soon... Thanks for the fine posts.... See Ya.. K

most people don't realize just how unimaginabley beautiful florida was before civilization got its talons into it. there are glimpses here and there, but so much of it has been annihilated. no i am not up to speed on the kissimee project, but i do look forward to your posts on the aquifer as water is one of my passions.

- GMO'd plants by Liora Leah

thanks so much for your post! I was a bit queasy when I read it at first, because the only way to insert the toxic-eating bacteria was to genetically modify the plant. a lot of people will be very concerned about this. I do not believe that ALL genetic engineering is "bad"; however, we must proceed with much caution when using this approach. This particular example seems to show the genius the human race is capable of. I would be concerned, however, if the GMO approach starts involving trees and other plants. There is always the potential to contaminate native species and forever change their genetic makeup.
I also believe that the planet is NOT doomed, but it will take a lot of people becoming awake and aware of Gaia as a living BEing, not just a large rock to dump our excrement and waste upon. See the article below: I do believe that Gaia will cleanse herself by any means necessary, even if it means the deaths of many humans in the process; however, I do not believe the whole human race will be destroyed. Example: Southeast Asian tsunami, recent hurricanes, etc.
Isaac George, who channels ArchAngel Ariel, discusses scientist James Lovelock's theory that we are "past the point of no return" re: the environmental degradation of the Earth. George tells us that Gaia is capable of saving Herself. We humans are required to become "spiritual ecologists" in order for us to save ourselves: http://curezone.com/blogs/m.asp?f=356&i=82

no, if you read closely the plant is not altered in any way. the plant already has a native species of bacteria that live inside it, they are actually modifying the bacteria. they are giving the pre existing bacteria the machinery it needs to convert the toxins into harmless substances. so i guess the bacteria are genetically atlered. but then again the reality is the nature does genetically alter species all the time. it is constantly creating hybrids and cross breading plants. what alarms me is taking fish genes and inserting them into tomatoes or pig genes into potatoes which is what they are doing - nature never does that kind of nonsense. but taking some genetic material form one bacteria and inserting it into another bacteria somehow doesn't seem very out of line, know what i mean? it just donest seem like you are messing with fundamental nature principals.
terminator seeds are an abomination. that kind of gmo bs is just wrong. but somehow this doesn't seem bad to me. anyway those are my thoughts, thanks for your input.
