Blog: journal of my 30 day juice fast
today was weigh in day, i have lost only 1 pound since last week. yes still going down but 1 pound man that is slow. worse still no movement on the tape measure (except half inch in upper arm). i weighed myself on sunday and i was 1.5 pounds lighter than i am today(wednesday) - so i have put on weight in three days. damn. im not sure why it is i really dont feel like i have eaten enought to warrant this.
i finished the oxypowder cleanse. i have mixed feelings about it. by far it is the best stuff i have taken in regards to laxatives and when i start fasting again i will be usign this. i didnt see any black stuff in the toilet though and i really thougth i might have. im not sure if others have seen more results from a 7 day cleanse on oxy powder???? maybe i am cleaner than i think. i am having 3-4 BM's per day now without taking anything i have heard this is quite good. it is almost withing 40mins after i eat anything substantial (like my salad).
my diet is mainly raw foods but i do have some cooked things now and then. yesterday i was 100% raw and today probably 80%. my breakfast is always a banana maybe an apple and a nectarine or mandarin. i may add another banana or some grapes or whatever fruit i have thru out the day if i am hungry. i average 4-5 pieces of fruit a day. for lunch i am having a huge salad. this consists of spinach, lettuce cucumber loads of tomatoes 1/4 advocado 1 grated carrot sunflower kernels(raw) and i usually add some grilled peppers, mushroom adn occasionally lightly steamed asparagus. if any dressing it is only a small amount of olive oil and balsamic vinegar. teh grilled veggies are my non raw food i just love them and i find they really fill me up. i still dont think i am havign too many of them probably less than 1/4 red and yellow pepper each and 3 small mushrooms. i use a small amount of olive oil to grill. on a day i am trying to go 100% raw i dont add the veggies to the salad, those days i find i am hungry later in the day so i will usually have some dinner of cut up cucumber tomatoes and 1/4 advocado adn sliced assorted fruit. i have noticed that i am adding too much salt to the tomatoes and advocados but it really tastes good. if i feel hungry at all i will eat only fruit, nibble on some raw nuts, herbal tea adn water. i know i am still not drinking enough water, i am really trying to fix this -ive never been a big water drinker except when i was on the fast so i have to make myself drink. i wonder if my metabolism is starting to get back to normal??? i feel hungrier in the last few days???? actually looking for somethign to eat rather than making myself remember to eat.
twice in the last week i had a fillet of grilled fish. no additives except lemon juice so i made sure it was low fat. i craved it so badly i just decided to have it. (it was bloody good too!) i also had some alcohol on the weekend i did not over do it and i made sure i drank lots of water. so maybe the grilled fish and wine was the result of so low a weight loss. but i thought my exercise would compensate for that. i have ran or walked everyday. i have slacked off a bit on the extra exercises like weights etc but i have ran more days and started to run furhter so i thought this would burn up extra calories. i am disappointed in teh weight loss and not sure what i am willing to give up to try and increase the loss. so i'm pretty sure i am going back to a juice fast after spring break. i will try to lose more this week by having more days of 100% raw..... but i love those grilled veggies.
other than teh weight i still feel really good. i feel like i can maintain a good weight/lifestyle now - i dont feel the need to eat crap and i wont go a day withoug exercising. emotionally i feel stronger. i have started working in an office 4 days a week and i feel more confident in that environment than i know i would have a month ago. so this is all still really good aspects of the fast/lifestyle changes. anyway i will continue to eat the way i have which i think is a pretty good diet. and see what the scales will say next week. i will try to go 100% raw every second day. i thougth about trying to do more exercise but i think an hour walk or run everyday should be enough. if next week there is no imporvement in the weight loss i may need to reassess. i know this blog is a lot about weight loss now adn it will continue to be. i have a goal to reach and i wont stop until i get there. but please know that i am doing really well in many other aspects of my life and i do feel liek i have made some changes that are really positive on a day to day basis. now if just the weight would go i could relax a little adn reap the benefits.

Would you mind (if you do it's o.k.) letting us know what you lost while fasting and what you've gained back so far? I know what my experience has been but I'm curious about others. :) Thanks!

sure... i lost 25 pound fasting and then another 3 pound post fast - 2 pound last week and one pound this week. so total of 28 pound. i have not gained any and i am really determined not too. i need to lose lose lose.....what is your experienc???

Hey Julie,
It sounds like you are doing everything right. The weightloss can be frustrating I know. Are you close to your goal weight? I can't remember. Somtimes weight comes off very slow when you don't have much to lose. I used oxypowder before my fast. I think it pretty much liquifies everything in your system, so not sure you would see anything black. I never did when I did the bowel cleanse. Now with my enemas however, I see candida threads and possibly parasites, although I am not positive. There is definately unknown "stuff" coming out. My own past experience with liftinf weights wasn't good. My weight loss stopped for like 7 weeks. That was enough for me, I stuck with yoga and walking or light jogging. I know they say muscle weighs more than fat, blah blah blah, but when you have 40 pounds to lose, you don't want it all turned into muscle.

yes it is frustrating i still have 32 pounds to lose to my goal weight. and i am not being unrealistic my goal weight is still 10-15 pounds heavier than my "reconmended height weight chart thing" which i dont really beleive in anyway. i would be happy if i get within 10 pounds of my goal weight. its hard when you know you can lose it so quickly on a juice fast but i will stick with this for a bit and then start again. you are doing great too - i check in everyday to see how you are going.

If you're on a quest for the black stuff, I can only tell you that colonics really really really work.
If you're having 3-4 BM a day, you're in great shape. I fasted for 8 days (nothing like your fast, I'm full of admiration!) I was really hoping to see some gunk myself. Didn't get anything, and after I broke the fast, I was really plugged up.
Now, I just finished my third colonic in three weeks and I feel amazing. After the second one, I started to have the BM corresponding with eating a meal, just like you are now. That's the sign of a healthy lower intestine.
If you really want to get out anything that's in there, a professionally administered colonic will do the trick. I didn't find it a pleasant experience, though I saw a great therapist who only charged 35 bucks. But I feel really cleaned out.

ive looked into it a bit- but does it hurt or just uncomfortable?????? do you feel like you have to go to the toilet for a long time after it. i mean could you go on with your normal day??? things i spose i could ask the therapist. but i mean man does it hurt??????? i have given birth to three children completely natural with no pain releif.....so i can take pain...... but i chose not to ever again....ha!

I highly recommend colonics! I have never had a bad experience with one, only good ones. I always feel lighter and a bit at peace...it sounds wierd, but I feel it helps center me. I try and do it at the end of a fast. I have booked one actually for the day after I do a liver flush. I cannot wait to see the little stones floating out of my body along with a bunch of other stuff ;).
***now going to get a little more into detail*** ;)
It really does not hurt. Have you done and enema? I will tell you the tube they insert is bigger than an enema tube, but you are getting stuff in and out. You just need to completely relax when they insert it and don't worry, it gets lubricated.
It SO does NOT hurt like childbirth. I am not a champion like you, but I have given birth only to one child naturally (20 hours), the only thing related to pain as a result of my childbirth is the lovely 'roid from pushing ;). If I have been doing a series of enemas while I was fasting and then I go in for a colonic, that bad boy acts up and gives me *some* discomfort, but no real pain.
So go for it!

P.S. Hang in there with the hubby. I hear you, this is my hubby's busy season and my son and I are missing him terribly! (He does not travel, but he gets home at Midnite!) You are my hero, fasting for as long as you have with 3 children!!!!! It is hard enough with just one!

didn't see this till today (march 13) but I'll still answer, it sounds like you're going to do another fast.
The colonic is only uncomfortable. It doesn't hurt. And you're fine afterwards - just keep releasing till you feel empty. My place I went to had a private bath/shower for me when I was done, so I could stay there for as long as I needed to. I drove an hour each way to get to the place and I never had any trouble or urges on the way home.
They stick a tube up your butt, and through magic, sometimes water goes in, and sometimes waste goes out. It's truly amazing.
