today was a better day - thank goodness. still a little low in energy but i bought a step to do aerobics on and i desperately wanted to try it out. so i put in the dvd adn jumped around like an idiot. lots of fun but hard work. i am still really unfit but getting there.

i went to whole foods today just to look at things i can eat when i go back to eating. dazzle has inspired me to try raw- although im not suer for a whole month. i will go week to week and see how it goes. but i was suprised whole foods didnt really have that much raw stuff 9aside from obvious raw fruit and veg). i have read people write about raw bread and crackers adn raw tahinin adn other stuff. none of this at my whole foods. so i am goign to research more tommorrow and see if i can find a store that carries some raw things. i was getting rather excited over the raw nut section and the dehydrated fruits though. they will go on the menu.

through out this fast i have been pretty much following advice from a wellness coach. he coached a friend of mine last year. i didnt have the money to pay for him so i took all his information and tried to use it. his name is john rose he speaks on public radio here in houston. i also found an interesting article where he talked about juicing on the internet and kept referring back to that. he is pretty hard core adn very enthusiastic about juicing. he has been 100% raw for 10 years and done about 150 or so fasts. anyway i tried to follow the directions he gave my friend. these are some of the things he reconmended

-juicing fresh fruit and vegetables (preferrable organic)adn consuming 8-10 glasses per day half fruit and half veggie not mixing juices except some apple with veggies if desired
-drinking as much if not more water
-using mc lemondade whenever you like (but with argavy nectar rather than maple syrup)also herbal teas are fine
-adding a blended flax seed oil adn coconut oil to diet 1 tblsp of each in morning
-using no beauty products what so ever if have to use herbal
    -dry brushing skin each day
-taking cascada segrada (he mentions other options if this doesnt work) as much as needed to induce at least 4-5 bowel movements per day
-getting lots of fresh air and sunshine

there is more to it than this and dont quote me as i have probably got some things wrong or they were lost in translation (ie from him to my friend to me)
well i was up for all of it at the start and this is pretty much what i did

-juiced fresh fruits and veggies (not always organic) adn drank max of 6 per day sometimes opting for way less. i did make sure half veggie and half fruit although i despised the veggie
    -drank heaps of water
-used the mc lemonade at times i introduced herbal teas second week. i also made two batches of veggie broth close to the end of week 2 i havent had any for well over a week now. i am not sure what john roses' take wouldve been on this but knowing that he is a real raw foody he probably wouldnt have been so keen btu it got me through a tuff spot
    - i did not add oils although i had intended on it, just today i tried them and actually said out loud "oh you have got to be kidin me no freakin way" so no oil for me
-i rarely use beauty products anyway but i did use some herbal conditioner, herbal toothpaste and herbal deoderant occasionally, not daily
-i started out great on the dry brushing but about half way i stopped doing it everyday and now it is probably every 4th day(just because of lazyness)
-well if you have read my blog you will know i struggled with the whole laxative thing the whole way thru. i have tried cascada, pyhsillium adn smooth move tea. i cant say any one worked better than the other but i am back to cascada and i suppose this is what i have had the most success with but it does make me feel really nauseaus. i started out with 4/5 BM's but in the end only went to 1/2(oh gosh please dont let him know that!lol!)
-since day 5 i have either walked or ran everyday and love going outside just in general although i probably spent too much time at this computer but again it got me through some tuff spots

so for a first time fast i think i did alright not perfect but i managed to get through. i know i still have some days to go but i wanted to get this out while i was thinkin about it in case in can help anyone. i am also following his advice on how to break a fast. he suggest for every 4 days you fast you take a day to break - up to about 6 days. he also explains the order in which to introduce foods. so this is the order for me after a 30 day fast. first day of breaking i consume 4 oz's dried prunes that have been soaked in water overnite(cant remember amount of water they are soaked in i think it is 6oz's but i will find out sorry)in the morning and then continue juices through out the day second day same thing. prunes becaseu of their laxative effect. he tells of how they will come out if i am a little clean or really clean. he says to use this as a guide to see if you need to keep going with juice fast to cleanse more - but i will be done even if they stay in there for a month of sundays!. third and fourth day introduce soft fruits and still continue juices as needed to get calories. then on fifth and sixth day fruits in morning and introduce salad but no dressings. by 7th day ready to go back to normal food although he does state here that altimately the goal is a raw diet. well i think i can do the raw thing for at least 2 weeks maybe longer. then i am going to go low fat and low carb trying not to add any additves just using herbs for tastes. im not sure yet when i will allow myself to drink alcohol i have to make that pact with myself before the end of this fast. i also intend to maintain my fitness routine im totally hooked now and so is my dog! i still will have another 30 pounds to lose and dont want to lose sight of this. i will start a new blog after the fast to keep on track - dazzle is a task master so cannot disappoint!ha!

so that is my exit plan. if you would like to make any comments i would appreciate. but it seems pretty safe to me.

oh and by the way my sweet precious 14 year old came home from school today and was truly sorry as was i. i didnt really say bad things about him yesterday? did i? lol!

    • Just a couple more inches and you're at the finish line!   by  Dazzle     18 y     1,034

I just inquired under my TEENS CAN TRY A SAINT comment as to whether things with your son has improved.  I guess I should have read this first.  I'm glad things are better.  There's lots of love there, after all.

I just ordered Oxy Powder for, ahem, er, uh, you know, bowel cleanse.   http://www.oxypowder.com/   I understand it really cleans you out.  I learned about this product via CureZone.  It seems very different from the usual bowel cleansers and people claim there are no cramps involved!  That's something as far as I am concerned.  I know I said I am not discussing this aspect of fasting because it's plain gross to me, and because I don't have a problem with constipation but I like the idea of being completely cleaned out all around.  So, I am going to try this.  I will let you know how it works sans details.  You may want to check out the site and see what they have to say about the product.  I believe you can also find others discussing Oxy Powder on the Bowel Cleanse forums.  I believe a Dr Laura (?) recommended it.   I also have read that people have lost anywhere from a couple pounds to a full 10 pounds or more by using Oxy Powder.  It supposedly cleans you out that good.

Your coach has some very good ideas.  I'm glad you have someone to help guide you, however indirect.  Did your friend benefit from his guidance on her own fasts?  Is that why you were motivated?  Your disappointing trek to your wholefood store scares me.  LOL  Tomorrow, my husband and I are going to a wholefoods store called Richard's.  I hear it supposed to have all the stuff raw foodists eat, need and enjoy.  I'll let you know.  Maybe there is a Richard's in Houston.  Houston's BIG.  Next weekend I think I am going to order a dehydrator so I can make a raw cheeseburger,  LOL , as well as the crackers and whatnot.  Gotta have my variety.  But I'm thinking after 30 days of no food at all, just chomping down on a banana will be 7th heaven.

As to where you come from, I should have figured it out from your name. DUH, me!   But thanks for telling me.  I can only imagine how homesick you must feel sometimes.  I've been to Houston many times and have people who live there.  If you rented a speed boat, you could cross the Gulf and come visit me, as I live 3 minutes as the seagull flies from the coast, just south of Tampa.  LOL   You all must of been freaking when Hurricane Rita was headed that way last summer.  These past couple years have been HELL for the Gulf states due to hurricanes.  2004 we dealt with FOUR back to back killer 'Canes in 6 weeks time.  Charley (Category 4) actually trashed my town and we were without amenities for weeks.  Well Hurricane/Raining Season officially begins in 4 months, June 1.  I dread it.

Again, I am glad for you and your son that you two have forgiven each other.  Does this mean he is no longer grounded until he's 21?  LOL  (Couldn't resist)

FIVE MORE DAYS !!  (Is the light at the end of the tunnel so bright it's blinding you?)

ive gotta say it is a little hard to stay focused at the moment i am really thinking about post fast. but not long now. thanks for all the info you are either a really fast typer or just spend a lot of time at computer. ha! im a bit slow and make lots of mistakes (you were too polite not to mention!ha!)
my friend lost an incredible amount of weight i want to say 45 pound. but more so he talked about the feeling he had during the fast particularly the clarity and clear thought. he runs a company and very busy he said he has never accomplished so much as during that time of the fast. he also talked about the increase in energy. which i have definately noticed. i also feel less emotioanlly attached to everything which for me is a good thing - i would cry at kleenex commercials! but i mean i dont feel so let down by things that are bad or so caught up in what other people are thinking. also i dont think i am making emotional decisions. im probably not explaining this very well because i think i sound a bit depressed. which is not me at all. i just wear my heart on my sleeve and react to my surroundings. my friend put back on the weight but that is him - he is a black or white type person so it is all health or all not. he started juicing again when i started and went two weeks lost 35 pound looks great and seems to be doing better this time he seems to be keeping a bit of a balance.
i will look into the oxy powder are you going to do this while fasting or post fast? i have thought about trying the p&b shake mentioned alot on the bowel cleanse and other forums. curezone is such a great resource i love it.

    • Richard's Wholefoods Store Online   by  Dazzle     18 y     1,023

Here's a link to Richard's Wholefoods.  I mentioned this in my ONLY A FEW MORE INCHES TO THE FINISH LINE comment. We're going to visit this store next weekend.  Fortunately there is one online, but after checking out their locations, it doesn't look like there is one in Houston.
