Blog: Wedding Diet
Hi everyone. It's time to go on a 10 day fast.
Due to many factors, my diet has slipped away over the birthday weekend and last week. I did a lot of work at the gym, but I have not been eating that well, and I want to reset myself to be looking for the good-for-you foods to eat, rather than the rich n tasty foods that are bad for you...
This weekend the fiance and I got lots of wedding tasks done, and I'm thankful to him for being such a great sport about it. I'm not really making a big deal out of this fast - I've seen some new fasters on the boards who are flying through their fasts with positivity and strength - it's inspirational.
So my first fast, my goal was 30 days. I lasted more like 10, with all the pre-fast cleanse I did. This time I'm not going to set the bar so high - I think it made me a little miserable to think about how much I had in front of me... This is going to be a very manageable 10 days. Monday to next Wednesday. The weekend after this one I'm going back to NYC for the weekend for a sushi dinner, and that's going to be my first REAL meal. I'll fast through next Wednesday and add back raw fruits and veggies and maybe some seeds & tofu to get me to the weekend.
So no real pre-cleanse this time around, which might make my first detoxing a little rough. But I'm hoping the length of the fast will be just right for me - ONLY one weekend to get through, and I'm exercising a lot more this time around, which I hope to be the main focus of my day during my fast.
Day 1:
wake up 7:10 AM.
Strong tea - detox & ginger, with a few drops habanero pepper sauce. WOW. It really woke me up.
Juice - juiced some oranges, this will get me through the day. I had a little undiluted juice this am, took the rest to work, with a little water it's 32 ounces of juice.
This evening I'll do some veggie juice. I really wore myself out a bit last time, juicing both veggies and fruit in the AM to take for the day. I can get by on a whole lot less now, I think. I wish there was a juice place around here, though - I'd love to have a backup...
I'll have some tea & juice at the lunch hour, and water till then. I've got my Nalgene going and I've already had almost 32 oz of water and it's 9AM.
I'm not making a big deal of the fast at home - I'm going to try to not isolate myself from food at home, try not to make a big stink about being around prepared food. After seeing so many fasters here who cook for their families while they're fasting, I realize that during my last fast, my reaction to my fiance cooking (me going with a book to the bedroom and not coming out till it doesn't smell yummy anymore) is me lacking control around food.
I've come a long way with that in the past few weeks, and certainly since my first fast in January.
I did not break my fast well in January, and that's a mistake I'm committed to not making this time around. I just lost it, and had some rice, rather than having a little fruit, a little veggies, and working back up. Whew. Well I imagine I'll be back on here later.
This is my refuge when fasting.
Oh - and I WILL be taking my colon cleanse mixed with water this week. It's like a fiber mix with water. You don't chew, or anything, but I've got to preemptively keep things moving. I'm no stranger to enemas, either, and I imagine I'll get there in a day or so.
Rock on, y'all.

Cool - I know I out-goaled myself last time around, trying to do 30 days on my first fast, but this seems just right. I'm psyched to be fasting again. And for me it's a cravings-reset. Thanks!

i think a 10 day fast is really good amount of time to set yourself. im doing the same but starting next monday -due to work stuff this week. i am going to make 10 and just see how i feel if i want to stop i will if i want to keep going i will do that too. i wish you all the best and hope you get everything out of it you hope for. now as far as the food thing at home it was really really hard the first 2 weeks for me cooking food or smelling it in the house. after two weeks i didnt care. so be prepared it might be still hard. my thing was to burn nice smelling oils, ask the rest of the family to clean up completely wipe benches empty the rubbish etc. i also found it easier at the start to cook food i didnt particularly care for. to this day i still cannot make lasagne or have pita bread in the house. not sure if i would actually eat it but hey im not even going to tempt myself with those two loves.i would also go for a walk while they ate. i tried to find other things we could share in too because meal times for us was family time. but it turned out everyone loved the fruit juices so this was what we kind of socialised over. i htink it is ok to ask those who you love and love you to help you out a bit too. i always thought it was only 30 days - i think they should be a little accomodating! think of it as a gift you are givign yourself - this truly makes sense when you accomplish your goal and know it was you who did the hard work!
