I have been reading a new book called The Journey by Brandon Bays and she has an interesting perspective on self-healing. She believes that health problems are physical manifestations of mental issues and that our body cells have “memories” of our past experiences. I think there may be some merit to her ideas, even though my first judgment of her work was that she was a little bit “out there” and that many of her ideas are too extreme for me. I do, however, think that this idea deserves a little more thought on my part because I have always truly believed in the residual energies of emotions, especially on places and objects, but I never considered residual energies on individual cells in my body. I also think that her message has struck home for me in that I must be balanced and centered mentally as well as physically since it has been proven time and again that mental and emotional state helps dictate physical well-being.

I haven’t finished this book and I am hoping that she will describe some techniques to relax the body and mind. One specific example of therapy she has already described several times is the healing effects of therapeutic massage – this excites me because my younger brother has plans to attend a university specializing in Chinese medicine to train as a massage therapist.

One item she stresses that she believed played a major role in her healing process was a 100% raw vegetarian diet. To be completely honest I don’t know what to think about the benefits either way. If you read a forum from low-carbers, they tell you that is the only way to go and vice-versa. Since I have been a vegetarian and an Atkins dieter, I know that I prefer a diet of 50-50, just as many vegetables and fruits as meat. I usually exclude dairy and processed carbs, and since the only kind of grain carbs that I have a taste for happen to be processed, this usually means I eat very little grain product if any. I also totally exclude sugar and sugar substitutes, processed and homogenized oils, and I substitute sea salt for table salt. I have suspected for quite some time that I have a Candida overgrowth problem and I feel best when I eat very few fruits and have found that fruit juice is just as dangerous for me as white sugar.

My research keeps see-sawing me back and forth between all meat and no meat as the best way to lose my extra weight. I have considered trying fasts, even went a full day and a half through a water and juice fast which was very close to excruciating for me. I developed a starvation headache that I am still recovering from that was close in intensity to a migraine along with a lot of other symptoms – which all scared the crap out of me, hence I quit and if I ever attempt it again I will wait until I can take time off work. What I may try that has been recommended as just as effective as a juice fast is a raw-food diet for a couple of months. Once again, I am see-sawing and don’t know for sure what I will do. Right now I am continuing to gather information, continuing to collect my thoughts and read other people’s experiences. I have several books on natural healing subjects that I will be reading in the coming days and I will have a better idea of what my actual game plan is going to be at that time. I am always open to suggestions as well, and I continue to read everyone’s messages to see what other people have tried.

Hi, I believe that the body does have memories, not only of emotions but of prior lives. I have worked with a lady that does 'energy work' since I've been sick, for the last 2 years. She says that we create our own reality - I do believe this is true. But the 'we'that creates this reality is alot bigger than we normally think of. Its the us that has lived this lifetime, its our soul, its our great spirit that gave birth to many souls - one each incarnation. And its our unconcious memories of all of it. This is not just at the cell level but has many other levels; mental, physical, organ, etheric. Past life and this life unprocessed memories, which makes up the unconcious, sits at all these levels. I've been doing the work of taking off these memories. The lady I work with sees them as structures that sit in our body. Since I've been working with her, I've processed maybe 50 or 75 past life memories, many this-life memories, and my unconcious is alot smaller than it was. At a cellular level I'll bet there's alot less bizarre informaion being fed into and held in the cells.

Thanks for writing your blog. Very interesting!
