  • Life is not about you, friend!! DUH!!   by  kerminator     18 y     3,676       7 Messages Shown       Blog: Ya' think?? HUH...

    Why do we spend so much time in our lolly gaging?? {Wasting time}

If we were able to look over our life, from beginning to end; we would see that most of what we worry and fret about is of no real consiquense... DUH!!

It will not make any difference:

    1) Who won the Super bowl,  World Series, or the Gold Medals @ the Olympics..

    2) Who won the Oscars, or were voted best actor/ actress..

    3) Who had the largest house, or most cloths, or most expensive car...

    4) Who knew who at the Golf Club, or came to your party...

    5) Who you impressed, or out dressed...

    6) Who your uncle or mother was kin to...

    7) Who you bought your jewelry from...

    8) Who ever you had interaction with unless;  you had helped or assisted them in some way in this life... Point and counter point, friend!!

So the real question is why do we??   It would be better; once our immediate maintenance needs are taken care of in our day to day lives, to get down to helping others and thus form the greatest bonds of this life....  Life is not just how we live, but about how we treat others we find on our pathway....  DUH!!

Let's try to become more aware of what is really happening, around us...  Moment to moment and day to day...  Unfortunately many people do not really even try to become more involved with those around them...

BTW: It is not really about what you get our of life, but what you put into life... You are not the focal point of life; rather the point where by others have been served..

So the real story of your (our) life is about what we do for others....  Period!!

Last but not least, is how will you give an account for yourself??

Here are some things that GOD will not ask you about your life,  on judgment day;  these include but are not limited to:

What kind of job or house, or car, or cloths, or things you had....  No!! DUH!!

     He will ask:

    1) Who did you share or help with the money you made??

    2)  Who did you invite in out of the cold and rain??

    3) Who did you transport or help to places they needed to go??

    4) Who did you help to cloth, from the dampness and cold??

    5) Who did you support or aid with the things you were given in this life??

Of course He will already know the answers on the final day of your life, it is you who will have answered these questions....

It is you;  who will have answered them by; what you did or did not do.... DUH!!

This is the true theme of life... HUH!! If you do not think so let us hear from you!

    See Ya... Kermit

Thanks, Lady...  We seem to think much the same.... And I love being considered "Right On";  But I  realize that everyone has their own opinion, which does not always have to agree with me, so I say go for it... Freedom of choice is good!! HUH!!

If we agree that is "OK" and if we do not agree that is "OK" too...

Keep up your post and continue to help those placed in your pathway....

        See Ya... K

    • Many others believe this too   by  missp     18 y     1,343
I'm really curious to know why the statement of "If you do not think so let us hear from you!" was added. IMHO, it seems almost inflammatory. Perhaps it's just semantics, but it may read as an aversion for those very people you may feel need to hear your words the most ("put 'em up").

Anyway, as an agnostic and humanist, I (and many others) can agree in full with your well-written post (minus a spirit realm, of course *s*). It's true that life is more than self and I am always urging people to move a little "deeper" live a little further than the surface. Going deeper can be scary but it's worth it.

I would add, however, every person should practice introspection as a first step to helping others. Ever heard "If Mama ain't happy ain't nobody happy"? If you're right with yourself you can help make so many things around you better. (I believe you've stated this in other ways before.)

2 cents *s* Thanks for the post!

Thanks for your reply....  Any response is always welcome, as long as we do not get into Ad hominem Abusive cases where we attack the person...

We feel that everyone has a freedom of choice in this life, and can make their own decisions....   Just we told our sons, when they were growing up....  "Choose what you will, as long as you can live with the consinquences..."

That is my  motto and view, on what ever you want to do....   Now we should all realize that some consequences are slow to come about while others are instant....  That is what we all live with...  HUH!!

Again be yourself, learn to do good for others, and seek your salvation....

    • Well...   by  Deradune     18 y     1,391

My experience is that there are two kinds of "self-love" and one of them isn't really love at all so I won't go into that one, and the other is a true nurturing of self. When I nurture and love myself, that is when I am CAPABLE of truly giving something meaningful to others.

A preacher once told me something intriguing when I confessed to him that someone near and dear to me -- and who is a very wonderful person -- is also an atheist. He said, "Atheists are sometimes better than Christians! I'll put it like this: Christians will do something good for others so they will go to heaven, whereas Atheists will do something good for others because it just seemed like the right thing to do."

Point is, I would rather receive from others because it is a truly feeling from their hearts rather than because they're trying to "score" with God. The former feels (and I think is) so much more genuine.

I believe that it is the very NATURE of the human heart to be kind, generous and helpful to others. Therefore, I also believe that nurturing my own being -- which may be perceived at times to be selfish to others -- is not so stingy as it may appear on the surface. Because when I give to myself (loving inner parent to frightened inner child; meditate; etc.) then what I have to give others is a natural outpouring. It is totally genuinely given because that is the nature of the heart. And I listen to my heart and when it does not want to give, there is usually a very good reason. Other times I find myself offering what others sometimes consider to be very self-sacrificing -- but to me feels like no sacrifice at all, because I am only following my heart, and that feels good, and fulfilling.

      Peace

      Michele

        Thanks for your notes....

Many times in life the labels, people use are deceiving...   So I had rather just get to know a person, rather than see some outward sign...   Most people in life we only know them by their title, or job, or some temporary connection...   When do we really know some one for who he or she is??  This is one of the challenges of life...

I say all that to agree that many people, act out their life as they are, not as they profess...   Thus we all have a reputation, which is what others think of us, but it is our character that really counts...  Your real character is how you act when there is no one else around....  I enjoy being on lone hikes, where I learn about my real self..  No one to impress, unless you count GOD, but HE already knows you (me)....

Thanks for your reply, remember a person is what their character is....
