2nd Century AD by GALEN the first cold cream

    150 grams white wax (= 5oz or 10 tablespoons)
400 grams sweet almond oil (=13-14 oz or 17 tablespoons)
1 cup distilled water with a few drops of spirit vinegar

melt in pan over boiling/or heating water,
first the oil and white wax.
then add the water and spirits.
remove from heat and beat into a cream.

this is an excellent base for any facial cream/
play with it.. maybe use beeswax./ calendula wax etc.
maybe use rosewater instead of distilled...
or use a herbal infusion you like.
and use vodka or so (for the alcohol preservative)

btw thyme and sage are super great perservatives!
(anti bacterial agents. ) (or 1-2 drops rosemary extract)

ps/ always add any liquid to a oil.fat cream /slowly drop by drop
as you beat it in. to ensure good blending.

this is about the best basic facial cream to use
then play with it to develop your own variety..
like maybe x tablespoons of avocado oil + x of vit e/
    + x of emu + x of almond oil...to equal total of 17 tablespoons.
add your own variety of herb infusion to reflect your skin type.
if need astringent or emoilient (marshmallow is an excellent emoilient)

this version will keep longer than many homemade face creams
because of the alcohol preservative.. in spirit vinegar
or the herbs you use/ or extracts.. you can use sub/ a few drops
of any essential oil or extract (as long as the essential oil can be
used on skin ...) to get the same preservative action.

sells alot of basic herbal waxes etc
i personally would go for beeswax or calendula wax.

ENJOY and have fun experimenting making your own personal face cream.

fat-free facial cream for oily skin.

    1 coffeespoon Natural pectin powder
    2 tablespoons of an alcohol
    1 tablespoon glycerine
    3 tablespoons rosewater

moisten pectin with a little bit of alcohol
then mix this gradually with glycerine & rest/alcohol
add the rosewater slowly mixing in.
heat this mixture slowly til it boils.
let boil 3-4 minutes (this burns off the alcohol btw )
then pour into a glass jar, where it will form a jelly)

herbs can be aded in infusion form as a substitute for rosewater,

Sage and Comfrey Gel for skin quality

    sage = soothing and antibacterial:
    comfrey = antiseptic (knit bone)
    tea tree essential oil (optional)

    4 tablespoons aloe vera gel
2 tablespoons sage fresh is best/ dried ok
    2 tablespoons comfrey
1 drop tea tree essential oil (optional)

make sure aloe vera gel is cold.
make a strong infusion with all the herbs
by immersing them in hot water just to cover them
leave them for at least 2 hours.
strain off the herbs and begin to blend
with the gel working it in slowly.
you will probably not need all the infusion.
you do not want the mixture real thin.

btw use glass to steep it in/ & glass to mix & store
might just keep any left over infusion and dilute it.
dab 100 % cotton ball in it and wipe face.
use as an overall rinse in evening 8)

    ANYHOW ...to use your gel:

apply to clean face in a thin film
allow to dry before putting on any makeup
(think of it as an under makeup moisturiser)
or use it directly only on face blemishes
in this case, add a drop tea tree oil when mixing.

    keep in fridge

cover peppermint with small amt hot water
and leave to infuse about 2-3 minutes.
remove leaves and add the warm infusion to clay
    mix vigorously
it should form a paste. add hot water in drops if too thick.
add the tea tree oil and mix in thoroughly.

apply to the skin while it is warm
    remove when completely dry.
skin will be tightened and cleansed.
    moisturise afterwards.

will draw out dirt and impurities.

      These are fantastic recipes!!  Absolutely!

I, too, like to make my own beauty cosmetics.  I get my supplies from here:  http://www.fromnaturewithlove.com/  They have just about everything under the sun that you would need to make anything beautiful for your face and body.  The prices are very reasonable, in addition.

I love your blog and will be reading it as you create it.

      Thank you!
