  • Change Your Home Workout Routine   by  Ary Gudison     6 y     407       3 Messages Shown       Blog: Beauty Through Health

Congratulations on starting a home fitness routine this year and sticking with it. By now, you’ve noticed that some excess pounds are gone, your muscles have more tone, and you seem to have more energy and endurance. While that’s great, it may be time to up your game a little and make some changes to your workout. Here are some signs the time has come to engage in a little restructuring.

    Not Much of a Challenge

When you first started working out at home, getting through the routine was tough. There were times the first couple of weeks when you wondered if the workout was too strenuous. Finally, you broke the barrier and began to build your endurance. These days, it seems as if you hardly break a sweat.

While that's great, your workout is no longer presenting much of a challenge. If you want to keep improving your general health and fitness level, it's time to make the routine challenging again. You can often do that by taking a look at the commercial gym equipment for sale and finding something that’s suitable for your home gym. Remember to go with new equipment that allows you to start with relatively little resistance and then adjust as needed. Doing so ensures you can always increase the repetitions or the weight when you once again get a little too comfortable with the workout.

    The Workouts are Predictable

Structure is important with any fitness regimen. At first, doing the same things in the same order worked well for you. Now it seems as if sometimes you perform your exercises more by rote than by intent. It won’t be long until the routine is so predictable that it takes more effort to remain interested.

Switching things up a little will help. By all means, keep all the same exercises you currently do, but consider changing up the order. You can also introduce something new to the mix. For example, if you aren’t using a jump rope right now, work it into the routine. It will break the monotony and still help you get an excellent cardiovascular workout.

You Seem to be on a Plateau

You’ve reached a point where your muscles seem to be remaining the same, your endurance is not increasing, and your weight hasn’t budged an ounce in the last month. It’s great that you are maintaining, but isn’t it time to get off the plateau and start climbing again? Making changes like investing in new equipment or adding new routines will do more than add some spice to the workout. It will also help you see more gains in terms of muscle mass and your endurance.

It’s Time for Some Body Sculpting

There’s no doubt your efforts have resulted in more muscle and a slimmer waist. The thing is your workout doesn’t seem to do a lot for certain areas of the body. Now is the time to add some routines that target those areas while not neglecting the rest. You may find that if you buy plates that are different from what you already own, they may help with your body sculpting. Adding bumper plates to the standard plates may be the right choice. Remember to buy several sizes so you can incrementally increase the amount of weight you are lifting.

Keeping your routine interesting and challenging is easier than you think. Identify what you can do to add something to the workouts, invest in the right equipment, and you will soon be on your way to making a good thing even better.
