Blog: Truth is an incremental process
Have you ever lay down on a mountain, gazed at the stars through a clear sky at night, and wondered what life is all about? I have, as a child.
What made me recall this now is that my friend is a TV presenter, he is into astronomy, and can usually be found on various TV programs, book covers and occasionaly in free fall with astronauts on a jet doing anti gravity training (he's usually the one with the camera or microphone in his hand).
He now has a website called Footagevault, http://www.footagevault.com/
and somehow he has managed to sell videos of the Apollo flights back to Nasa http://www.footagevault.com/clients
- you can see some here http://history.nasa.gov/ap11fj/01launch.htm#fv0002000
Clever guy is Chris, and so is my other friend who wrote the website for him. How Chris managed to sell NASA footage to NASA I am not quite sure.
Anyway I have been watching a few clips and it brought back nostalgic memories of myself watching man land on the moon. I was glued to the screen, and so was most of the world. The atmosphere of the moment was nicely captured in the film "The Dish", starring Sam Neill. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Dish

Then I remembered looking at the stars as a child. Now though, the sky is not so clear, especially in cities. But the stars are still there.

Hi Steve,
It's funny you mention laying down on a mountain and gazing at the stars, I do that quite often on summer nights. Thats one good thing about living on a mountain out in the middle of nowhere, the star gazing is amazing. No city lights to get in the way of the perfect blackness on a clear night, it's great and I'm all grown up and still love it! I start by finding the big and little dipper and go on from there, it's funny how the mind wanders when you are in such a relaxing atmosphere.
Thanks for making me realize it won't be too long until I can do that again. It's one of only things I look forward to in the summer since it's my least favorite season, but oh the star gazing is almost worth the months of heat lol. Well, that and swimming in the pool ha ha.
