Re: Can someone tell me what Cayenne Tincture is good for?
Hi Libby and good luck with the cayenne tincture!
My husband has been making and using extract of cayenne for several years. We use it mainly as a general health tonic. I like to take it straight - just shoot a couple of dropperfuls down my throat; but my husband like to put it in his morning tea. It is excellent as a blood purifier and stimulant. Plus, if you've taken it my way at 7 am, you can be pretty sure that nothing worse is going to happen to you that day.
I have heard that it is good for stopping heart attacks and bleeding, but have never had occasion to use it for this.
Be careful when you decant it. Getting the cayenne extract on your fingers and then touching your face or any mucous membrane is a very bad idea! It is incredibly hot. If by chance I do get some on my fingers, I can feel it in my throat within about a minute. I imagine that the stuff would also make an exxcellent weapon for personal defense, but I haven't figured out a good way to carry it around.
Right now we have a beautiful batch brewing from some California habeneros - it is a lovely cantelope color and promises to be hot as hell!
Have fun! - yael23@nii.net if you have more questions.
