Dysfunctional cranial nerve
Hi all
Since February I have a stiffness around my eyes, particularly my left eye. The sensation also spreads over the left top side of my face. This has severely affected my work as a psychotherapist and in general, my ability to be at ease in face to face conversations.
For many months I was trying to work on lymphatic drainage, believing that the primary cause of this is lymphatic congestion in the affected area. I've done coffee enemas, liver flushes, a week long water fast, several ayurvedic and tibetan herbs, exercise, acupuncture, chiropractic, and more, but I am almost in the same place as I was seven months ago.
A few days ago I saw a neurologist for the first time. He believes that the cause of this symptom is dysfunction in one of the cranial nerves. I think he said the 5th cranial nerve but I might remember wrong. In his prescription he did not write this diagnosis but only the symptoms. He prescribed me two psychoactive medications - amitriptyline and clonazepam, which I have decided not to take because of how toxic they can be, in my understanding.
However, I am a bit optimistic because he has located a different origin of my illness and one that makes sense to me from feeling my symptoms. It also suggests that I can try something different now and get successful results.
So while I am continuing some of the old things I was doing for my condition (liver flushes, no. 7 is due in a week; Tibetan herbs for liver and nerves, acupressure, etc.), I am planning to focus more intensely on the nervous system now.
At this moment I have in mind finding a new acupuncturist and taking large doses of B12 both as supplement and in dairy (I've been largely vegan for a year).
I am also considering another
Water Fast but I am a vata type in ayurveda and fasting makes me rather weak, so I doubt if I will be able to do it for longer than 10 days or so, which will most probably not be enough.
Andreas Moritz writes that nerve damage can be healed if you clear the lymph in that area and get enough blood flow into the nerve. This is basically accomplished through liver flushing, which I am already doing, although I think I will need at least a year more of flushes before I can be relatively stone free.
What more can one do to rejuvenate a weak or dysfunctional cranial nerve?
Also, is there any way this diagnosis can be confirmed? Would an MRI reveal nerve dysfunction?
I would appreciate any answers or thoughts. Thanks.
