I go to Palmer chiropractic school and get the treatment for FREE! Maybe you have a Palmer near you? They are also doing the decompression and some adjustments for free!

It touches the skin. I don't see a beam at all. Not sure what the machine is called offhand, but I will check the next time I go.

It definitely seems to be helping my Achilles tendinitis.
