Re: Bentonite Clay Baths

Hi PTree,

Hey, that baking soda thing sounds intriguing. I think I'll use some in my next bath coming up on Friday! (I'm traveling on Saturday and want to be well refreshed!) Oh-I forgot to mention, I tend to need MUCH less sleep for several days after my clay baths. I'm talking about a third less! Another awesome advantage!

It's recommended that you pump out the bath water into your toilet, especially if you use large amounts. I will be using some larger amounts in the future (I want to try 2 to 2 1/2 pounds at once) when I order some clay in bulk in February. That's ten times the amount I'm using now. I figured a measly four ounces isn't going to do much harm, as long as I flush out the pipes well after draining the tub.

After my last bath, I did let the Bentonite settle out on the bottom of the tub. Then I pulled the plug, and drained off most of the clear water. The movement of the water drew the clay that was within about an inch of the drain into the drain. When there was only an inch depth of water left, I plugged the drain again and stirred what was left to check the consistency. It seemed very free flowing, not gloppy or sticky or thick or gelled, so I just went ahead and let it go down the drain, then flushed lots of cold water through and flushed the toilet several times to flush the water out of my lines completely.

When I start taking my "heavy duty" clay baths, I think I'll let the clay settle out, then drain as much water down the drain as possible, then pump the rest into the toilet with a large aquarium pump or sump pump. Or if necessary, I'll just pump it all down the toilet. Have to get back to you on that one.

Hope you have a GREAT week!!

Juniper Berry

:)
