Recipients of Pfizer vaccine have 5-6 times fewer neutralising antibodies for Delta variant of COVID
Dr Bauer of the Francis Crick Institute explains that those who have taken both doses of the Pfizer vaccine have 5-6 times fewer neutralising antibodies in their blood capable of recognising the Delta variant of Covid compared to the original variant. These are the antibodies which play a key role in protecting us from viruses entering our cells. They are either produced naturally by the adaptive immune system response upon viral infection, or triggered by vaccination. Moreover, the longer the duration since a recipients' last jab, the lower their neutralising antibody levels are likely to be. Subsequently this means that "booster" Pfizer jabs will be essential.
