Water Filters

I live in California and I have recently found out that CA is going to drastically increase the amount of fluoride in the water starting in October. I have a low thyroid condition, and so this is quite alarming for me.

I have read Jon Barron’s book, and he recommends a company called Aqua Space. I called them, and their prices are quite high…but with the JB discount, I could do my entire house for just over $1,000. I have been told that this would remove the fluoride even from my shower, although I am not sure if it will get all of it.

In the meantime, through Shirley’s, I bumped into a water filter company called IonMicrowater

They want THREE TIMES as much for their filters, but they claim they produce “living water” that is ionized and oxygenated. I appreciate the living water concept, but if I go with them, I will spend more than the Aqua Space whole house filter for just an under the sink filter and have to get an inexpensive shower filter that does not remove fluoride at all.

I have been told that it is very difficult to get fluoride out of shower water, as the flow is very fast the warm temperature of the water gets in the way. I have been told that no shower filters remove fluoride, because they are too small to do the job. I have to re-contact Aqua to find out how much of the fluoride would be removed from my shower if I went with their whole house filter. It may only get 50% or so. Still, that is significant and better than nothing.

My questions are:

How important is it to get the fluoride out of my shower water?

Is ionizing and oxygenating worth the huge price tag and not getting the flouride out of my shower?

Also, IonMicro offers business opportunities and I am interested in trying it, but while I could REALLY use some extra income, I don’t want to go around selling filters that are overpriced and leave people getting less and paying more...unless it is in their best interest to do so. Of course there are some communities that don't allow flouride in their water, and those folks might benefit from this....

Aqua says there is very little research available about flouride being absorbed throught the skin, that it is not dangerous when inhaled in vapors, and that the main danger is ingesting it, although they admit that the lack of research does not mean absorbtion is not a problem.
