I would say just eat raw foods for a month or so. Clean your gut and build good flora in your gut.
Fasting is ok, but clear up all the hurdles. You should not worry about what others say or think if you strongly believe that you are right and doing fasting and eating properly is helping you.
I think skinny people do better in the beginning in terms of losing weight compared to overweight people, the latter lose more weight in the beginning.
