The Sweet Water Creek on the rise in Georgia....
We are going to talk about some Southern songs, and their influence on us...
Out of all the songs I have heard the Country, and Southern Gospel songs seem to fit life as I have lived it...
Perhaps on of the best example of many of those songs was the ones sang by Johnny Cash... "Will the Circle be unbroken?", "Ring of Fire", "I will walk the Line", "How high is the Water, Mama?", and many others... See his new movie, it is very good, another story of how we all have to over come the trials in our life...
Of course "Dixie" ranks high on my list, along with "Amazing Grace" the latter is one that will get you closest to GOD; as any ever sung... If you have never taken the time read the biography of Mr. John Newton; I dear you to read about this man and how the song came about and not be touched to your very soul...
I can identify with both songs... Dixie because I was born in south Georgia, on a cold frosty January morning, and GOD knows I was blind and now I see... Another hymn; "How Firm a Foundation", which for the author's name has the initial "K'.. It was the favorite hymn of Gen Robert E. Lee; and at his funeral in Oct 1870, they say over 50,000 men; both former union and Confederate soldiers sang it appellate as it rang out over the Virginia hillside... I wish I had a recording, it must have been a grand sound... Read the biography of Gen Lee, it will show you a great man...
Your core values, will be expressed by the music that you allow or listen to influence your life!! DUH!! So do not listen to "Crap " music that only gives rhythm or beat; this is like noise, a lot of rhythm, but has no real meaning....
A good song has three parts:
1) The words, most important, most were written like a poem or prayer.... This is where the meaning is... This is where you find the core value, and up lifting spirit....
2) The Melody, this is the key to any good song, here is where your mind learns and keeps it in your memory.... A lively and well metered melody will resonate in your mind for the rest of your life; and return at times for no reason....
3) Last but not least is the rhythm, it keeps the beat or carry on part of the song... There must be some form of rhythm, in every song, but this is not the reason for the song, it is the support section... Don't get carried away with this Bass Boom Culture, that has prevailed over the past few years...
It is too bad that many of the people today are being sucked in by, rude, gross, words, and just a heavy rythum.... This leads to a mind altering and sometimes destructive influence on you mind... A song was meant to be enjoyed or to up lift and support a core value in your life if not then IT is truly wasted... Just so much noise... Believe it friend, evaluate your music, and make the right choice as to how it effects your life...
Listen to good quality music, it can be a joy to your life.... see Ya..K
