Just when you thought you had seen everything about the recent War between the States...   We bring you yet more news that they don't teach in the government schools....

On 23 June, 1865; Confederate General Stand Watie, was the last force to surrender...   Then over 15,000 Confederate Indians were on their way home...

Yes there were Native Americans who fought on the side of the Confederacy!!

The fight was just as real in Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, and Arkansas...  As it was in the deep south and Virginia......  But many of the troops were Cherokee, Choctaw, Chickasaw, and Creek....  These men were not as well equipped as many of the Eastern Confederate troops but still as effective...  Of course near the end of the war all Confederate troops were in need of supplies...

At the University of Virginia on the  monument to the Confederate dead you will find these words  " Fate denied them Victory, but clothed them with glorious Immortality."  Forever to those who loved the Confederacy there will be the remembrance of General Stand Watie....   His had been a bold dream- a dream that shimmered with courage and valor. So bold the dream- so bold the dreamer!
