Over time as we age most adults start feeling the wear and tear we put on our bodies throughout our lives and back pain is one of the issues most of us face. Although posture doesn’t seem like anything that would cause much trouble, correcting your posture can help to ensure that you have less back pain. Slouching daily and doing repetitive activities can really cause issues with your body so just making the small effort to correct your posture on a daily basis can really soothe your back pain. Posture is defined as the way you hold your body while doing things such as standing, sitting, bending, pulling, reaching or lifting, when doing these things if the bones in your spine are correctly aligned then you have good posture.
Bad Posture
There are lots of things we do throughout the day that can cause tension in our back that lead to back pain. This includes Slouching, walking or standing with your butt out, standing with your back flattened out, leaning on one leg and hunching over to type or text to name a few. For example, slouching in your chair can cause tension in your muscles already but getting into the habit of doing it causes more strain on already sensitive tissue. While correctly bad posture may make you a bit uncomfortable it can do wonders to relieve the tension in your body. Practicing Good Posture and Easy Exercises
Practicing imagery activities throughout the day can start making you more aware of the posture you keep. A good way to remember to keep your posture in check is to imagine that you have a straight line passing through you from the ceiling to the floor, you can also picture yourself as an ice skater or ballerina. A couple of easy exercises that you can do to ease your back pain would be shoulder blade squeezes, upper-body stretches, and arm across chest stretches.
To do a shoulder blade stretch you would sit up straight in a chair with your hands on your thighs, keep your shoulders at chin level, then slowly pull your shoulders back hold them there for the count of five and then relax. You can repeat this three to four times. Upper body stretches are done by standing facing a corner with your hands pressed flat against the wall, place one foot in front in front of the other, bend your knee as you lean into the wall and then exhale as you lean your body closer to the wall. During the entire exercise you are to keep your back as straight as possible.
To complete the arm across chest stretch lift your arm to shoulder level in front of you, while keeping your forearm facing towards the floor, grasp the other arm and then pull it across your chest. Hold for 20 seconds and then relax both arms. If these exercises are practiced daily and also throughout the day as well you will definitely notice a decrease in your back pain.

Our posture is very important to the health of our bodies and should be taken seriously. Taking the time out to do exercises that can help with your posture in the long run and can take away some of the discomfort and pain as well. Even trying supplements can also aid the health of your back. Although changing your posture can be a bit awkward at first, taking the time out to correct your posture will help you to avoid the tension in your muscles in the long run.
