The Foundation of Secure Attachment & Healthy Sense of Self
"Touch and our sense of self" by Thea Blair
Date: 5/9/2014 7:45:49 PM ( 10 y ) ... viewed 1045 times Thea Blair offers a truly wholistic perspective on child development in general and especially in regards to the child's natural learning process. I am continually blessed by the generous sharing of insights Thea has gained through her dedication as a mother, teacher, researcher and eternal student of life.
The foundation of Thea's work is "the senses of bodily awareness which are themselves the foundation of healthy human development". Her "peer massage" advocacy in schools is an organic offshoot of this. The cultivation of these senses are needed "our whole life through - for health and vitality". (1)
Her most recent sharing elaborates on this foundation from which children develop their sense of self. Albert Einstein said: "Information is not knowledge. The only source of knowledge is experience. "Virtual reality" of the computer does not offer the direct experience that is required for the child to obtain true knowledge. It also does not allow individuals to have direct contact with one another which, as Thea will share, is the only way that children can grow as social beings.:

So interesting that I am updating this blog now (as I'm corresponding with Thea) just a few hours after a teleconference regarding accessing Sophic Wisdom that is based on "the senses of bodily awareness"! Also interesting to see that "human development" does not end with child development but continues and can expand from a "healthy sense of self" into larger concentric circles into the tribal and collective spheres of life.
