Be Aware and Avoid Corporate-Controlled Nutritional Paradigm

Although the ingredients today appear to have changed (from the original of cotton seed oil) the company still compares it to butter as if their product is better: https://crisco.com/product/all-vegetable-shortening/. They are able to do that only because of the misinformation about traditional animal fats plus propagandizing their displacing products.
All of this underscores the utter failure of public education that (like these food companies) are propagandizing to the detriment of people.[7]

"... I decided to study nutrition in college ... and earned a degree in nutrition from an Ivy League University in the late 1980s. ... Here are the major take-home messages that really left an impression on me: 1) polar bear liver will kill you because of its high vitamin A content[1]; 2) fat-soluble vitamins are dangerous; 3) sugar consumption has no ill effects, except for dental caries; and 4) dietary fat is the principal cause of cancer, heart disease, and just about every thing else. The major message: avoid fat at all costs and eat more carbs. Remember too: avoid vitamin pills and polar bear liver."[3]

Comment:
There is a stark contrast between what good nutrition consists of and the inferior nutrition that is taught by all the corporate-controlled educational institutions. Sally Norton (Corporate-Inspired Nutrition) is just one of virtually countless individuals who have learned this the hard way. Following "politically correct nutrition" and the dietary dictocrats in government and other "high places" can be deadly, or if not then a least very costly.
See: "What's Wrong With 'Politically Correct' Nutrition?"[4]
Sally also points out that the corporate-inspired nutrition education starts early in school. Going to government schools for 12 years or more may possibly require as many years to completely unlearn all that one has been indoctrinated with. Yet all of that can be avoided!
The best school environment that I know of is a Biodynamic farm! It's my living dream.[5]

April 14, 2019 - "Nutrient X": Animal Fats! -
"... Animal fats contain vitamin A, absolutely the most important nutrient in our arsenal against poisons; they uniquely provide vitamin D and are the best source of vitamin K2, both of which have cancer-fighting properties. We get CLA, another cancer-fighting nutrient, from the fats of grass-fed animals. Animal fats provide arachidonic acid, critical for a healthy, nonporous gut and skin; and they are our best source of saturated fat, the fat that supports the balanced production of hormones and detoxifying enzymes. For our cells to work right, to keep out what doesn’t belong and to allow what does into the cells, at least half of the fatty acids in the cell membrane should be saturated fatty acids. I was struck by Dr. Litman’s description of what happens to the mitochondria in someone with cancer—their method of producing energy is messed up. Well, just like the cell membranes, the membranes of the mitochondria are composed of a double layer of fatty acids and at least half of them must be saturated for these energy-producing structures to work properly. ..."[2]

"... if the way food and animals are raised determines their nutrient density, and industrial organic foods are basically raised identically to conventional foods, then we should not be surprised that there is no nutritional difference between the two.
Conclusion – don’t get caught or fooled into paying high prices for pseudo organic foods, especially processed pseudo organic foods like boxed breakfast cereals and all sorts of other fake foods!
What matters is not what label is on the food, but how the food was actually raised."[6]

And to really know "how the food was actually raised" you need to know your grower.

Notes:
[1] Now a dose of some "Vitamin A" Truth -
"Vitamin A And The Brain" By Sally Fallon Morell
We’re going to move on to my favorite vitamin, one that should be at the top of the vitamin hit-parade; unfortunately, mainstream thought puts it at the bottom of the vitamin hit-parade. That vitamin is vitamin A. Dr. Price was really interested in vitamin A because he found that traditional cultures put a big emphasis on foods that were high in vitamin A. Liver was a sacred food in every culture that he studied, and liver is our richest source of vitamin A. Primitive peoples considered liver very important for pregnant women. The fat of grass-fed animals, especially butter, can be rich sources as long as the animals are outside eating green grass; so will egg yolks if they come from chickens raised outside.
By the way, the yolk is the most important part of the egg. You can throw the whites away if you want to. And the whites tend to be the allergenic part, not the yolks.
Another excellent source of vitamin A is cod liver oil.
Now, we’ve been hearing that vitamin A is toxic, and the government warns pregnant women against consuming liver, cod liver oil and other vitamin A-rich foods, claiming that vitamin A causes birth defects. The RDA for vitamin A is extremely low. As a result, we have a national deficiency in vitamin A.
Yet vitamin A is the main vitamin that you need while your baby is being formed! This is something we have learned from stem cell research. Stem cells are undifferentiated cells in the embryo, which turn into the differentiated cells of the heart, the brain, the stomach and so forth. The first organ to form in the fetus is the heart—stem cells get a signal and become heart cells. After the heart come the lungs, the brain, the kidneys, the skin and all the other organs.
By the sixth week of gestation, all the organs have been formed—key organs have formed even before a woman knows she’s pregnant. Those stem cells are turning into organs, including the brain and the gut. Now, there is something that tells those stem cells what to do, whether they should become a heart cell or a brain cell or whatever, and that something is vitamin A. So, if a woman gets pregnant and she has been on a lowfat diet, avoiding liver and not taking her cod liver oil, or eating a lot of lean meat, which rapidly depletes vitamin A, or taking protein powders, which is the quickest way to deplete your body of vitamin A, then she doesn’t have enough vitamin A for those stem cells to know what to do. The heart may not form at all, and she has a miscarriage; or the heart forms with a defect in it.

I'm reading this on Saturday, March 7th, 2015 and would like to comment on the importance of obtaining the very best nutrition in preparation for having children.
About twenty-five years ago my sister had a daughter who was born with a heart valve defect. I never thought about it till now that my sister's nutrition may have played a foundational role during the gestational development of her daughter. I now most highly suspect that the nutrition did play a part because my sister had put herself on a "special" diet during her pregnancy. The child had a shunt put into her heart when she was a baby. About five years later the doctors said they needed to replace the shunt. They did the surgery however the surgery was not 100% successful. They had attempted to put in a larger shunt so they could delay the timing for next replacement. Consequently the little girl lived for a just a couple months and then died.
The loss had a severe impact on my sister and that "shock conflict" resulted in her having cancer. My sister fought and beat the cancer at that time. However a couple years later she got cancer again and this time she "surrendered". I visited her where she was living in Hawaii. She clearly said to me that she wanted to be with her daughter who had crossed-the-threshold. Several weeks later I returned to California upon news of a new community-building initiative that was most highly attractive to me. Less than one month later my sister crossed-the threshold.
Less than two years later I was introduced to the "wholly trinity" of Sally Fallon, Nourishing Traditions and the Weston A. Price Foundation and that changed everything for me! Although I can't undo the past, I can welcome every opportunity that comes to me to encourage and possibly teach whatever is required to fully meet all the nutritional needs of young mothers-to-be. I have envisioned a "full belly" farm community that is especially supportive of young mothers to be. (See "my living dream" with a link above.) Their preparations for conception and a most blessed pregnancy can begin a year before conception. They can have a devoted bonding with their child without compromise for at least a full year after the child is born. All in all that may be a three year cycle devoted to mother and child that is wholly supported by the immediate community. Then the child can have a real childhood in a truly nourishing environment that is devoted to healthy community building. And as they say it takes a community to raise a child.

Last Words You May Like to Know!:
The Weston A. Price Foundation publishes one of the most informative, little guides on nutrient-dense foods that is simply called the: "Shopping Guide" and I highly recommend it! It is possibly the most handy guide you can find for making wise choices for good foods. It says:
"Good health begins with plants and animals raised in healthy ways on mineral-rich soil; and with meats, eggs, milk products, fish, grains, legumes, fruits and vegetables that are packaged and processed in ways that preserve and enhance their naturally occuring nutrients.
Good health also requires avoiding foods that are devoid of nutrients or that can do us harm, such as refined sugars (unless mixed into your home-made kombucha and the like), white flour (yuck!), most commercial liquid vegetable oils (more yuck!), modern soy-based imitation foods and additives like MSG, hydrolyzed protein, and artificial sweeteners."
There are a total of thirty different categories of foods and food items listed on 103 pages that can fit into a shirt pocket! How does that relate to the "38,718" items that may be carried in a supermarket? Well, the "guide" lists the food and food items in three rankings: Best, Good and Avoid. And the Guides rankings of Best and Good lists all known items. The ranking of "Avoid" is typically a one line description of the other items to avoid. What this means is that the supermarket is mostly filled with these other items that are best avoided! Maybe some day we can have a actual figure indicating how much these items are included in the "38,718" figure. In any case when you read lines like: "What consumers have lost in frontier independence, they have gained in choices" in support of a figure like "38,718" you can take the "gain" "in choices" with a grain of salt! However (and unfortunately) many of the foods listed in the Guide are not available at the supermarket but only available through some form of direct order from the source. Just Get the guide and see for yourself what the real food choices are!
