Governmental Humor Or Horror?
A commentary on "Actual Passport Application Letter Sent Back To State Department"
Date: 5/24/2011 5:06:32 PM ( 13 y ) ... viewed 36352 times I received "the letter" from a family member, read it and laughed a number of times at the contrasts that I recognized (typically a requirement for most humor)!
I see the contrasts that exist between the image and expectations on one hand that we have of government and the actual reality of what government does, how government works (and doesn't work)! The contrast can be extreme and may require extreme laughter!
The image and expectation of government began back in the 18th century! The contrasts began then as well!
Many of the founding fathers recognized the potential for some of the current problems (and dangers) of government and therefore the need to "bind" government because of it's beast-like nature. The need for binding the governmental beast has been largely unmet over the past century (and then some) consequently, the beast is now devouring we the people. It is now obvious to many people that their wealth has certainly been largely devoured! My brother has suffered and is still suffering that with the company he worked for! (Corporations use the cover of government to hide their crimes and make them legal.) There is virtually no end to the accounting of all that government has destroyed (yet I believe that the accounting needs to be made and that's part of why I am writing this). If the irate letter of one "Citizen" can inspire others to tap into their anger/rage and move them into some kind of pro-activeness (either toward binding the government or toward something new) then maybe there is a chance that the beast can be restrained and retrained. I personally think the the beast needs to die. I believe we have to stop feeding it, starve it in every way we can.
