I made this Art before going to
dinner with MAGDELENA and KIRK in
Carlsbad. This was an invite that came
out of our meeting each other at the
SNOWGOOSE THANKSGIVING party
at the Villasenor Hacienda on Stewart Street
in Vista, CA, November 22, 2009.
This was a very important meeting.
We planted Seed Dreams tonight.
There were about eight of us at the dinner,
including Victor and his new girlfriend MONICA.
Magdelena is a lovely woman, a teacher
of first graders. She invited me to teach at her class.
Her husband Kirk organizes some wonderful
Chicano book events.
I see this as an opportunity to tell my
early Childhood Boyle Heights story.
That would be healing.
Maybe a story needs to be written
in the style of Victor.
His books are all about his family.
What an easy thing to write abou!!!
He is a promising mentor for my transition
to being successfully published.
This was a gentle yet significant meeting.
Here are some Journal entries in the handwriting
of Magdalena:
11-24-09
At the Whisler home-- 11 people
present two days before Thanksgiving Day.
Home made meal--salmon, garlic mash potatoes,
salsa, homemade pumpkin pie.
After eating, we all gathered to Leslie's direction
about putting your dreams into a beet seed and
rooting down your dreams.
Seeds were placed under our tongues while we wrote.
Spencer, oldest son of Whistler's filed the
biodegradable sugar cane pots with soil.
After we wet the seeds and wrote,
we planted the seeds.
Some of us spoke out loud and disclosed our dreams,
and blessed the event.
Wonderful!
Love, Leslie
GARDEN MANAGEMENT JOURNAL
ENTRY
Written at the Villasenor home,
the evening of November 22, when
I did a seed dream with Magdalena.
Dear Leslie,
You give me hope, inspirations, and lots of seed love.
Thank you! Thank you for your kindness and your neat idea
of my seed dreams.
Nest. Que Dios lo bendiga!

I really learned a lot from attending
and having this experience.
It was a gentle sweet dinner gathering,
a private quality fun sharing and getting to
know each other a bit.
Magdelena was very welcoming and her food
was very appreciated by all.
She makes an effort to create healthy food.
The salmon was delicious, and the pumpkin pie
not too sweet.
I am going to do this ritual with the Rodriguez Family
at the Thanksgiving there.
